I did a search and can't find a consistent answer. Changed the oil and added 9.5 quarts. Book says 7 liters and then top off. Other threads on oil changes said up to 11 quarts. Some people add an extra quart just because. After a 15 minute drive mine still shows maybe .5 to 1 quart high hot. Did I over fill and will it harm the engine? Should I be worried enough to drain out some. My car leaks some so it will eventually get lower by itself. Thanks Charlie
You didn't mention if you installed a new oil filter when you did your oil change. I will assume that you did as the volume of oil retained within the oil filter will affect your proper oil filling requirements. I learned this the hard way years ago when doing an oil change on my motorcycle before a race weekend. I would suggest that you check the oil immediately after bringing the car up to operating temperature then shut it off. Check the oil within a minute or so. I would also check it again after 15 minutes and compare the difference. Always best to follow the factory owner's manual. Remember that Ferraris don't leak oil (like old Harleys) they weep it Cheers-Colin Firth-Ontario Canada
