http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-512BB-29943 Nice looking car in general IMO. S# 29943 let the flaming begin.
Check the steering wheel picture showing the speedo. Top of the dash has light scratch and markings . That dash has apart for a reason with a fresh steering wheel to boot.
I'd bet the dash damage is from fingernails & made while being driven. rgds, VIncenzo Image Unavailable, Please Login
The ad says exempt from the DOT but fails to mention it was federalized in the past then partially undone, it still has crash bars in the doors from the conversion.
"The carbureted Boxers are much faster than the injected Boxers, and with only 929 carbureted BBs built, the carbureted Boxers have always been more collectable." I can't believe this little sentence hasn't elicited some saucy comments, lol! Maybe black Boxer bottom is correct for that car...
I also recd the email from Sheehan on this one (he sends out mass mails!). The dash stitching does not strike me as odd. Very common stuff from fingernails which is evident in 308s time and again for the same reason.
5. It gives me warm and fuzzies seeing the engine out. 4. White turn signals. I only prefer yellow on a yellow BB. 3. Abscence of federalized side markers. Nuf said. 2. Front bumper and grill just look right. Maybe try smoked glass covers on foglights. 1. And the number one reason is... you know it's coming.... it is carborated.
I think the exhaust smells better on a carb boxer. Reminds me of my youth with just the correct amount of unburnt hydrocarbons in the air. Mmmmm. I'd much rather follow a carb than a BBi. They are fantastically beautiful cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login
i know, i know...when ms is selling a bb it is always better, faster and more collectable than a bbi. when he has a bbi...it is always more tractable and quicker than a bb. but i know my place in the heirarchy of boxers...i own a lowly bbi but i still like anyway. 10 yrs in my ownership this feb! that's a long time to own a turd such as a bbi
No need to "run from this one" as these are very minor deficiencies for a car over 30 years old. Car should be checked out but these issues are not issues. Could be fantastic car for all we know.
I don't think that car is too out of line. It is all there and probably a good car over all. Although I suspect the mileage could be higher than listed. I own a lowly carb boxer, and yes it is faster than an 'I'. But who really cares.
Thats what I was implying. Mileage reading 18679. When I see them off line such as the number 7 my suspicion of tappering is evident.
I like the way the carb car smells and sounds, but if I was buying it would be a BBi. Carburettors are like voodoo to me. I also love the look of the carb engine but I'm not a carb doctor and it would kill me. I would most certainly encourage anyone I know to buy the carb car so I can look at it and smell it drive by. But then again they are such beautiful cars that either version is better than not having one.
Man that engine is clean. To me, looks excellent. And for the record, my steering wheel/dash looks virtually identical and no history of being removed. I think that's just what they start to look like in time. My 328 was getting there. Seems fairly priced, especially considering the services. Did notice the fairly recent ownership change: 2010, August, sold to current owner. Do we know the backstory to this change? Is it significant? Either way, very nice looking car. Hope it makes the new owner very happy.
