we are here in the boxer/tr/m section and in those cars have only 12 cylinder engines so why posting this poll here? I will not vote because all 8 and 12 have positives and negatives also what is to vote here? there is no text what you want with this voting
12, Purely based on the clips given. A larger question of 8 vs 12 usually has me opting for 8 because of the weight savings and greater nimbleness. This excludes supercars. Best car? FXX Evo
I hope the mods move this to the general discussion area where it belongs. Having said that I have owned both and there is nothing like a 12.
Never had a 12. I was torn between playin’ it safe with a 328 or stretching out for a GTS330. At around 400k...and the numbers they made and the way that car looked to me (timelessy length )...I figured they were underpriced. But I also knew it was an old, 12 cyl., Italian sports car so fear the unknown of maintainence won out and I played it safe. (The money for maintenance was a big consideration...but...more than that...I honestly didn’t know if any amount of money could keep any of these things running for any length of time...period) I voted 12 even though I never had one.
Pretty short clips.... Like asking someone to lick two different foods rather than chew and taste to ask which is better.
My V12 is powerful and very quiet. My V8 is powerful and loud. So it depends on what kind of mood I am in.
Well I tried several times for my wife to follow me at a proper speed and this is the best I could. BUT... think about it, that is what somebody you overtake hears
Do you want comfort or performance? I have a 575 and I can take it on 3 hour drives and get out like nothing. In the smaller v8 cars you'll get out with a bad back and a headache if you try the same thing. My car has a tubi too but its not obnoxious like the 355 my dad had. It's just a matter of what you want. I personally prefer the luxury and comfort of the V12 cars. The 575 isn't so low that its a hassle for my wife to get in and out.
I like both equally, and for different reasons. Front V12 GT's are the ultimate cars for Touring in the Grand style. Mid V8 sports cars are the best for canyon carving or track days. Mid V12's are kind of weird. The only one I'd want would be an F50.
The bottom line is that all the expenses in running a 12 seem to be about 1-1/2 times the expenses in running an 8, which is logical in considering the number of cylinders. The 12 would ultimately be more satisfying, but only if you can afford it.
Small-ish V12s in the middle are just fine--Muira 3.6 or 4.0 L V12 transversely mounted. F50 is just too ugly for me.
Where are you getting that from? Running my 575 is significantly cheaper than a 355 or 360. The 575 you can lock and swap the belts for $2500 every 5 years not 3 and it needs a $1000-1500 annual service. I think you're mixing up newer 12's with something dated like a testarossa. The 575 the belts are at the front and the engine doesn't need to come out to do alot of work like some of the older V8 cars.
Agreed. I would think though than a modern v8 say a 458 are the most economical to maintain. People rave about the 458 reliability Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am just talking about the noise!!!!! I didn’t want to start a a 8 vs 12 debate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm more interested in displacement. Between 2 and 3 liters a lot of great motors have been made. 2 liter Ferrari and Alfa V8s. Early Ferrari V12s. Maserati straight 6s. The old Alfa 2 liter fours...and the new one in the new Giulia...or the 2.9 V6 (Ferrari) in the Alfa QV. And I'm a big fan of the Ferrari 308 V8...add some oil pan baffles or a dry sump and you've got a remarkable engine.
