I know we have some Adobe users on here that are also students so I thought I would pass this along. SAVE80EDU is the coupon code, you do need to be verified as a student, but it's an insane deal. I've never had a legit copy of the Adobe suite and I just bought the Master Collection for $180.

    - Obviously no affiliation, just passing on a great deal.

Do they *really* verify you as a student? :) Been meaning to upgrade for a while now..

I believe they do, especially at this price. I had to use my .edu email and apparently they are asking for scans of school IDs. If I hadn't already ordered I'd offer to order for someone on here. The Master Collection is $2600 if not a student so $180 is an incredible price.

Thanks for letting me know - but turns out it was a glitch in the system and now they aren't honoring that price anymore!!

Kinda pissed but I knew it was too good to be true.

That's pure BS, there were banner ads and all kinds off stuff all over the Adobe site.

Edit: I just checked and the code still works.

Edit 2: Apparently it is dead, they are going to catch a ton of flak from this though. This morning there were tons of banners and stuff with the promo on it, pure BS that it was a mistake.

if you purchase the student version of any adobe product, my understanding is you cannot upgrade the software in the future.

I got this deal 3 years ago when I bought a CS3 suite.
It's legit, and I used my wife's .edu email address.

I believe you can, but you must upgrade to the normal non-student version. Even so, it's still worth it, $180 for $2600 software.

    check out this link:
    http://prodesigntools.com/difference-between-adobe-cs5-student-editions-vs-regular.html

"Student editions cannot be upgraded to other education editions – but do receive Adobe’s discounted upgrade pricing to all regular commercial versions (say for a future release like CS6 or CS7), or you can purchase another student edition if you still qualify. But the student price on a new release is often lower than the commercial upgrade price anyway, so you can just choose which is cheaper depending… Bottom line, this is another substantial savings and advantage of owning these – basically you get your future releases discounted as well."

Makes me feel bad... when I bought my Macbook used it came with the entire
Master Suite installed but I've never once used it! I don't even know what half
the programs even do. Too bad I can't just "give it to someone" off my hard drive.
    It's such a waste that I can't do that.

You should really look into some of the tutorials online. It's really incredible software.

If you have a lot of time and inclination to sit in front of the computer, yes, it's incredible. But not everyone needs to push out a collaborative, HTML=compliant newsletter with all the bells and whistles, or work with 300mb layered-up graphic images to get the kids' hair and highlights just right.

It's overblown, bloated software with a steep learning curve for the ordinary consumer. There are far better consumer-grade utilities for far less for touching up pictures or doing any of the other things you can do with CS3. Most decent cameras come with a decent set of tools. ACDSee is a great alternative too, but it's not free. Irfanview has lots of followers but I have only used it occasionally. Acrobat and PDF reader are halfway user-friendly, but there is free software out there that does the same thing.

Sure, it's not consumer oriented, but everyone has to start somewhere. If he wants to learn photoshop I say go for it, a couple hours and you'll have a pretty grasp of many of the features.

    quite true.
mastering photoshop will be a life long goal for me.
it is the least user friendly software i have ever used.
    also the most powerful.
