So after the first oil chg since 2006 and 800mi driving this beautiful creature I just had the fuel RTN hose (10mm) from the neck out the trunk replaced and during this op while car was on the lift I noted some oil drips up front - Monday will get the "woven metal" high pressure Oil hoses replaced.

Horn inop - noted it was "weak?" when checking pre-purchase - get that reviewed Monday.
No cold air from AC - summer in TX can be fun - will have that reviewed.
Clock inop - will get that fixed - saw something on these forums pertaining.
Drvrs Sun visor clip needs replacing -
Repaired passenger side kick panel loose vinyl - I can do interior stuff.
Removed trunk carpet & forms - will restore/reglue these soon - again; working within my limits.
Bought 2 quarts of QS 30 for the trunk.
Still need new tires, leather redone & some paint work on rear valences(?) and some resealing underneath car - selling MBs to cover that and placate the "Comptroller".

All in all, a super 3 weeks with the car!

Very nice looking car, should be a lot of fun to drive! And it's always good to keep the "comptroller" happy!

Until you find a source for the sun visor clip, if you swap the passenger one to the driver side you might find the passenger visor will stay in the proper "up" position without the clip and the driver side can enjoy the use of the clip. It only takes 5 minutes to find out.

I believe the oil spec is 10w 50 but that's hard to find so I use Castrol 10w 40.

Hi 180 & Thanks - Driver's side stays up without the clip so I'm good for now..(-* Regarding oil, I've seen several weights on here - my mechanic recommends the QS30 on this car since he's been working on it from 1994 - but I'm interested in any other insights - Thanks!

    QS30 = Quaker State 30 Weight oil????

I have NEVER seen a recommendation for a single weight oil on ANY Ferrari and, frankly, never for any other car either in decades. Furthermore, a 30 weight oil would be too thin for high performance engine performance IMO.

Depending on your geographic area, I would recommend and use a multi-viscosity oil from 10W-50 or 15W-50. IIRC, I have always seen that the factory recommends a 10W-50 but a 15W-50 would not be a problem. There may be some engines that recommended a 10W-40 but I'm not sure about that.

I was very happy with Mobil 1 Synthetic 15W-50 and would recommend a synthetic because of its superior heat capabilities and low wear from cold start features. Theoretically it will last longer in terms of miles but that shouldn't be a big consideration if you are driving anything less than 3,000 miles a year as you should probably change your oil at least annually anyway. Obviously a good quality conventional oil would be fine as well.

Do a search here on FChat as there are some excellent oil discussion threads with some highly qualified opinions from some real oil experts.

Mobil 1 15-50 is one of the very few oils left that has an adequate amount of zink. The zink is required for engines that don't have roller lifters/followers. I use it in all my old stuff that have non roller cams. Walmart sells it in 5qt jugs for around $26.

Palo Alto Speedo is the place to get your clock fixed. Check it first with direct 12V to the clock since wiring can always be an issue with these cars.

For AC add a dye on a recharge (R-12) and get some glasses on UV light to look for leaks. I have a compressor it you need it.

Hi All & Thank you for your insights! I'll very strongly look into and consider these oil recommendations - And regarding the clock; Thanks again!

I suppose I can 1) loosen the gauge screws, 2) pull out the "3 gauge block", 3) disconnect the clock and 4) replace the "3 gauge block"?

    Thanks again,
