Noticed I had leaking fluid from the front of the car. Investigated and determined the upper heater valve was leaking at the actuation shaft.

Ordered replacement parts from Superformance UK (Heater Valve 110066) and they are slightly different than what is installed.

The new valve had a spring clamp for the cable. It was also undrilled for the mounting holes for the sheetmetal screws. It also did not have a swivel nut installed to secure the actuating cable.

I removed the spring clip and matched drilled the holes for the attachment screws.

I removed the swaged swivel nut so I could take some dimensions and fabricate a new one. I have not been able to find an off the shelf replacement for the swivel nut after a quick online search. I also drilled out the valve actuating arm in preparation for swaging in a new swivel nut.

Anyone else run into these issues changing out a heater valve?

Here's the new heater valve installed awaiting the swivel nut.

Agree they are easy to fabricate. I ordered some 7mm hex stock to duplicate what I removed.

It looks like the small hole in the new valve is the same size as the wire in the cable. I guess they expect you to bend the wire at 90 or 180 degrees and slip it through the hole. I'd prefer to duplicate the original as much as possible.

No, I suspect the hole is how it is operated in whatever other car used and is the current source. Probably a Fiat part.

Part number on the new valve is H28-104 originally manufactured by RANCO. Looks like it was used on Open Kadets. Opel part number 1820106. Here's one for $59 Euros:
