Just completed an engine out service and thought you might like to see this. The extent of the work included rebuilding the heads, major service, minor clean-ups and beautification of the engine bay. During the project, I cleaned everything but also polished the intake plenum, valve covers, timing belt covers, and a few other smaller components. Runs excellent!

wow. that's a lot of work. I hope there was some kind of sealant involved before it oxidizes again.

That would be allot of work for nothing when that happens.

Yes, it took many hours to polish to that finish. I considered a coating but as it turns out, it very easy to polish clean now that it's smooth. I was worried about the coating turning yellow over time. Surprisingly, I find this easier to maintain...perhaps because I'm blinded by the shine and can't see!

Now that you've got the finish smooth it will be no different then polishing a set of uncoated aluminum wheels.

    Looks nice.

    Thanks for showing us..

Nice detail work. It looks so clean.

My valve cover recipe was bead-blast then let WD40 soak in. Now with a quick WD40 wipe down it seems to stay pretty bright.

Wow. As for a coating, I would be worried about heat!

There are some clean engines out there! Time for a little time under the hood.

Nice. Lots of work. I'm lazy thus mine has "patina." Patina is latin for grime. I think.

There is an aircraft product, ACF-50 , that the Jag guys use on polished aluminum valve covers, when sprayed on it makes the engine loo a little duller BUT it can be washed off very easily and the shine will still be there. Just a thought, looks nice and like you spent a TON of time on it. Very nice.

Thanks for all the comments. I know it's over the top in terms of work but nothing is too good for these fine pieces of artwork. I'm hoping not to spring an oil leak or blow a CV boot or something. That would certainly make a mess! By the way, I know it's not faster but it sure feels like it. And of course when ever anybody wants to see the car, they always ask to pop the hood...now it just feels good.
