Hello All- Im posting this for a friend. He has owned this '81 308 since '85 and has invested ~ $60K into it. He has finally decided to get out of it since he dosent do any of the work himself and the current shop it is at wants $20-30K to finish it. This is the perfect car for the mechanic who knows 308s and has the tools to reassemble it. The car has the entire engine/power train installed with no further work necessary(probably need new cam belts again), basically it needs the listed missing parts installed as well as the interior(which is new/complete). Owner (at this point) wishes to sell the entire car as a project car-and not to part out. The owner lives in Minnesota and the car is at a Ferrari specialist shop in Wisconsin. The car(at this point) will remain at the shop untill sold. It will be the buyers responsibility to obtain the car from the shop. He is looking for offers over $10K, he would probably take the first $15. If interested contact me(Bob) at [email protected] and I will forward you his(Jim's) phone number for specifics. The following is what I remember about the car: GIVEN- 1981 308 Ferrari.49774 actual miles.Last started 5years ago. *All new cambelts *Air conditioner rebuilt *Suspension; disassembled/cleaned, replated where necessary,Koni shocks revalved-original,ball joints/tie rod ends all new/ steering column reconditioned. *Interior; all new Broadcloth-headliners/back deck. All new Conelly leather seats/trim panels etc. *Paint; car stripped to metal repainted stock red. *Wheels; all wheels repowder coated as stock & new center hubs, new tires. MISSING * Both passenger & driver side windows & electric motors * Horn & horn compressor * 4 wheel well skirts Thanks, Bob [email protected]
Not the strongest year for horsepower, but the price is right! Beware that part about "getting it from the shop"! Do they owe them any money?? Go for it!
LOL speedy! i was wondering about that part!!!! my inquiry is to gather info and facts, this is not the only car i am looking at. all i should say for now. best,............michael
Hi Guys- Nothing is owed to the shop. The shop owner did tell the 308 owner he had to decide on completing it or not by a few days ago, hense this thread. Depending on how long it will be there it is possible the shop owner would start to charge monthly rent, the 308 owner will be accountable if this is the case. We are presenting this as best we can, there is nothing to hide. This post is in good faith, owner simply needs to move on and take his loss. It's a great deal for the mechanically inclined. Thanks for the many replies, it should go quickly...... Bob
Hey Bob Dont worry im on the ball on this one. Guys Im looking at making this my first ferrari.... I know I can handle the maintenance but we will see Might have to sell one of of my 90 corvette ZR1's anyone interested?
not trying to knock anything but if someone pays say 12k for the car and it needs another 20-30k in it thats 40k or so for a 2v 308 plus the guy already has 60k in it! That is one pricey 308.
This is my own 2 cents! There is no way the car needs 30K more invested into it, thats what the shop told him it would cost the owner 20-30K more to finish it I think that is total BS and from what I can tell they are not even a ferrari athourized shop they might have ferrari trained people but I doubt it, Its a restoration shop! all the work is done to it I just needs to be put back together its still basically apart after paint. and he has invested 60K into it over the last 20 years he has owned it since 85.
Would be a nice project, wish I had that sort of money laying around right now. But I lost my shirt when my company filed bankrupcy.
Hi Johnny- Yes, Jim did sell it at the end of April or into May. Someone bought it who is going to part it out, which is a shame. It sure wouldn't have taken much to put it on the road. I don't know who it was but someone in the farrari parts business took it for 15K. Say good bye to that one. Bob
