Spotted this car to be auctioned by Brooklands on October 22:

    http://www.historics.co.uk/buying/online-catalogue/ferrari-400i-gt.aspx

Does the auction estimate seem low, or is this about right with current prices?

When I checked the listed chassis number, my reference lists it as a Mondial.

Does anyone have any additional information on this car? Can anyone confirm that this is the correct chassis number for this car, or if not, what is the correct chassis number?

    Thanks! :)

Based on the info given that price seems right. Ime sure the price is based on the high mileage/possibility that major engine/etc attention will be required at some point soon (unless thats been done already) then you have struck gold oops sorry i posted this!!!

That aside fewer and fewer 5 speeds around so you will run out of choice before long. Even if it needs a total rebuild its a good starting point.

You would have to be mad not to buy one of these at that price!

    Regards

Went to the Historics viewing this morning. Chassis number is 36805 not 36885 as stated in catalogue. Car is rough condition generally, paint is poor, interior is not bad though. My mechanic thought general condition it had possibly done a more than the 80K approx miles on the odometer.

Anybody know how much it sold for? Was busy on the day. Probably just as well, I might have taken a punt.I'm a sucker for needy cars!

Anyone on the forum purchase it? It would be interesting to know more about its condition. Unless something was very wrong with it, I think someone got a good buy! :)

Thanks again to everyone who provided information!

Agreed, I think that they are enormously undervalued but I still wouldn't think of them as an investment. I wonder why it came back on the market so quickly after being purchased. I doubt it was bought to "flip" but you never know. Other reasons could be an expensive maintenance item was discovered, the buyer got into a financial squeeze or he drove it and found out that it doesn't handle like a mid-engined 328.
