    Lately, I've been noticing my 812 is making a strange ticking sound from the engine. It sounds like a baseball card hitting the spokes on a bicycle. The faster the revs the faster the sound.

    I brought it to the dealer a while ago and they said it was normal. Now I feel it's getting louder than before.

    Anyone else hears this on their car as well?

    Direct injection sound from the injectors? I hear the same thing from my V12 Lusso and thought this is normal. No?

    This is it. It's actually the high pressure fuel pump used on the direct injectors.

    Yeah, this is what my dealer told me. Some days it's quieter than others?

    Never heard that sound in my 812.
    Do you hear it inside or just outside?

    If it’s much louder than usual inside the car I would check the oil. This happened to my when the oil was low. The procedure is a pain the first couple times but once you get the hang of it, it’s not a big deal. Some percentage of 812’s really consume a lot of oil, including mine.

    I had this on my F12 (there is a thread somewhere) and it sounded like angry metal bees tapping very fast with little metal hammers. Feeling a bit poetic this morning haha.

    Lifted bonnet at service station and was pretty loud but it doesn’t happen all the time and it does appear from all the feedback it’s normal.

    Will ask dealer (it’s in for leak fix on rear windscreen again) to check oil level just in case.

    I went for a drive today and noticed the sound was pretty loud again. Drove around for another 5 more mins and it went away.

    Dealers said it was the fuel injection system and nothing to worry about?

    I almost guarantee you it's the aircon fan. Turn the fan off completely when you hear this sound and see if it's still there.

    Does the tick increase with engine rpms? Or wheel speed?

    Can you post a a video of the ticking sound for us?

    Yes, it increases with engine RPM.

    Put headphones on and you can hear it in the background.

    Here is a video of the car in motion. I have novitec exhaust and when the engine is running healthy it purs and everything is smooth sounding.

    In the video, you can hear it almost sounds like the car is puttering or a little underwater.

    I would check oil as suggested above. Had this on a Maserati years ago and it was low oil. I haven’t heard this in either my SF or GTS

    Sounds like valve noise.

    Low oil can trigger this of course. So can misadjusted valves.

    When did this symptom start??

    About 1000 miles ago. The sound isn't as noticeable if I am driving normally but after a few high rpm shifts its more noticeable.
