I have recently placed an order for an 812 GTS. Kinda surprised they accepted my deposit I made in Sept 21 but happy to be able to acquire the GTS. When I got the news it was accepted I spent 3 days researching to determine options and selections. But that is another subject.

Not really sure about the build process and "stage steps" but will do some work here and find the answers to help me understand the what/when of the stages. The dealer said "within the year". It doesn't really matter to me as long as it is not an exceedingly long period.

In my program of trying to stay "revenue neutral" in my 10 car collection before the 812 arrives I will be selling two of my 6 Ferraris. The 330 GTC is my forever keeper. The BB512 is special and while not a practical car like the 330 it sure is an experience to drive. The Superamerica is limited production and the last of the 4 Maranello versions of which I have owned 3 of. Love the SA and will keep it. It's a front engined V-12 convertible.

That leaves 3 Ferraris on the bubble. The 599....sadly has to go. Having the SA and an F12 and soon an 812 renders the 599 on the end of the plank. The question is the 2nd Ferrari to let go. It will either be the '15 F12 or the '14 458. Having two V-12 drop tops in the SA and the 812 kinda makes the 458 less important to keep cause it's a convertible. Then again the F12 will be made somewhat redundant with the much advanced 812 and 3 other V-12s.

Definitely good problems to have....I know. And have a plenty of time to make my choice. I could break my "revenue neutral" parameter but would rather not unless something out of the blue adds to revenue. Could happen but not counting on it.

Steve, we’re I in your shoes I’d let the 599 and F12 go as they’re somewhat redundant with the 812gts and will be quickly antiquated when compared to the new car. The only question I guess I’d ask is have for found the 458 more comfortable than you initially viewed it, and if not is there a solution to make it so (replacement seats or other)?

Sell them both. (I’m not a fan of either but that’s irrelevant). Keep the space open and you’ll be “revenue positive” when an opportunity to reload presents itself. :)

Its nearly impossible to stand in someone else's shoes, but based on the available information, I'd move the F12 and keep the 458.

Sell F12, will be redundant with the GTS incoming and when you want the mid engine driving experience you can resort to the 458 and save the mileage on the SA for ultra special occasions given the value of the car.

In terms of special cars, I would let all 3 go (599, F12, 458).

Agreed that the F12 would be a bit redundant.

Agreed, since I knew what a 458 was and had to google the F12 :D

I’d let the F12 go and keep the 458 for breadth of experience in your collection. The 458 IMO is a modern classic.

Great car problem to have and congrats! Exciting indeed. I would get rid of the 599 and f12 vs 458 is harder. I would think about the spec of each of these cars, which imho, are both special cars in their own right. However, if you told me they were rc/tan, I would sell both. If they had rare(r) colors or interesting option lists with things like blue carbon fiber, or something else that spoke to you, then I would keep that car because it would be harder to replace in the future if you change your mind.

First.....thank all that posted with their thoughts. Much appreciated since my personal echo-chamber is decidedly V-12 biased. Over the past 45 years I have had 12 different V-12s, 3 V-8s and a Dino. Loved the 355...not the 360. The Dino was beautiful but just didn't fit at the time.

Have not had enough seat time in the 458 to decide. Took a long trip from MI to NC when I picked it up. Not the best car for a long trip. The year before I picked up the F12 in PA and drove home to NC. Loved it instantly. Great GT. On the mountain roads the F12 is a bit of a handful. While I thought the 458 was good on the twisties I had a hard time keeping up with my friend in a GT3. Could only get close after powering out of the corners.....but I had to catch up. Not as nimble as I thought it would be.

Seems not much love here for the F12 from the crowd.......but I get it.....all for valid reasons. With 2 older classic and the SA V-12s and a better V-12 coming with the GTS the F12 is stranded in no-mans land. From a styling viewpoint I think the F12 definitely looks better than the 599 and even trumps the 812. But it's not a limited edition nor classic like the others.

What I had not thought about was the [Jack, Shark01 and HenryR] suggestion to sell all 3. Open the door for something completely different......maybe an 8C.....a car that I covet. They are truly special and limited.

Decisions.....decisions........If I went back to work I could keep all and add....but the garage is already maxed. And gotta give this retirement thing a chance....it's only been 2 months!!!

Go back two years and sell me the 599 I tried to buy off you…

I will go against the grain here, now that I have a F12, keep it and sell the 599 and 458. Last PF V12.

None of the 3 are red/tan. I sought out unique colors for all 3....

599 in Bordeaux Pontivecchio/cuoio - might be the only 599 in this special order color

Hi Eric.....I did have a few like you wanting my 599.

Glad I didn't sell it to you and you got an F12 instead. It's a big step up over the 599. And gorgeous too.

Oh boy, now that is a conundrum! I am partial to blue and I think I understand your dilemma. I think another consideration is which cars do you drive more. An analogy, I had a nautilus watch in my collection. I loved it. It was in perfect condition and I had no reason to sell it. Yet, I almost always picked another watch to wear. I sold it after thinking about it for a while. Once the deal was done, I never looked back. I also have a car in my garage that I don’t drive that much but like looking at and will keep over cars I drive more. I like seeing it there and that’s that. So, for me I guess it’s the subjective value I put on the vehicle.

Joe.....a few months ago I was having some lower back problems. And for some reason the 458 was the only car w/ seats that aggravated the pain. As you know back in January I was ready to sell the car due to the issue. Then for some unknown reason the back pain disappeared in February. So now the seats in the 458 are no longer a deciding factor.

That describes the Boxer. The 330 is easy and a dream to drive. The SA while I don't drive it as much as the others has that attraction to stay in my garage. Have owned it for 14 years. I did put miles on the 599. Drove it on long trips and put 8k miles on it over a 3 year period. The F12 is only 2 years new to me. The 458 less than one year.

tough problem to deal with.... I have always liked the F12 so for me keeping that makes sense .. It will sound better then the GTS. I think... I had to sell my GT3 touring a couple of years ago cause for whatever reason every time I drove it my shoulder hurt and I spent an entire year with a very sore shoulder.... SO if that is an issue with the 458 might look at selling that .. or the 599 or both
not much help one idea would be see if you like the 812 GTS first then sell whatever makes sense...I think we are the same age so.... Those aches and pains ...

I will be definitely be selling the 599 first. And not knowing when the 812 will be built/delivered I don't have to rush to decide on the 458 or F12. You are right....I could wait to see if I like the 812 before selling either the 458 or F12. But I am guessing I will...a front engined Ferrari V-12 convertible w/ 4 wheel steering. Pretty hard to not like that concept. Yes.....although healthy as a horse I am coming up on my 68th. The short-lived back issue was a wake up call.

I’m trying to decide whether I should sell my 812SF as I have an 812 GTS on order. The SF is such a great car but hard to justify having both.

Great problem to have! I think the F12 is the most logical since the 812 is more like it than the 458.
