Call me crazy…but I am really enjoying the sound of the stock GTS. With the top down, it gives you some great sound. It almost sounds more pure and tonal to me than the 812SF, which had a more raw and guttural sound. I’m in break-in mode, so haven’t explored the higher 8k rpms yet, but so far so good. Really considering an x pipe, even though I didn’t like it much on the SF. Now, I didn’t think the valve controller did a lot for the SF, but I can really hear the valves opening and closing in the GTS, so looking very much forward to installing that shortly.

On its own the 812 GTS sounds great with the top down. But I ran it side by side with my 599 and it sounded very muted.

Wish those noise restraints were the same as that era.

I took delivery of my GTS Saturday. The sounds is amazing and so far I don't have any thoughts of changing it. With the top down especially it is glorious.

    That’s great to read!

The less you have to do the better.

I don’t mind the full blown sound in my TDF however for the 812 GTS I think it is nice to have it more as a gentleman’s car rather than a racer.

BTW - Are you around this weekend?

I will be down at Newport Sat, Sun, Mon.

May the Horse be with you

A valve controller makes a pretty good difference but not crazy loud. Cold start with the valves open sounds great.

Mine's sitting underground awaiting spring to arrive, but did have a chance to hear start-up with the exhaust remote. Sounds glorious!

I think the other thing to consider is the back window, putting that down creates a nice sound chamber in the cabin.

It's a game changer for sure. Now I want all of my cars to be spiders because of that option.

There is ZERO need to go all in and pay for the entire setup from the get go.

I installed the Novitec X-pipe + the remote controlled valves on my OEM F12.

It's mooooooooooore then enough. No fumes. No drone. Loud when you open the valves and civilized when you keep them shut. They open automatically anyway when you go above a certain RPM.

Best part is...you can always do the sport cats or back boxes later when you are bored and feel like upgrading something. None of these parts are reliant on the other.

I guarantee you won't do either once the x-pipe and remote valves are installed.

I had a different experience adding an X pipe to lay to my 812. The high rpm sound was great, but I lost almost all low end volume. Downshifts were thin, and the x pipe needs more air flow to really get what you want from it. My 812 didn’t have a GPF, which reduces airflow even more. It’s a warranty buster, but HFCs will make the most difference on the GTS.

My F12 was Euro Spec. Back in 2015 the cars came without the gas particulate filter (thank God).

I really loved the sound. Doesn't mean it wouldn't sound better with the high flow cats.

But overall, i didn't regret the decision to upgrade in phases. Especially since the high flow cats required detaching the engine mounts and lifting the engine slightly for the access needed to install.

I had the same experience exactly - need high flow cats otherwise X pipe is unimpressive

I like the phases idea too. I’ll likely do an x pipe and see how it is with the top down, then hfcs even the warranty is almost out. Something like that.

No F12s were fitted with GPF, all 812 GTS are fitted with GPF. Not a fair comparison.

With the GPFs in place anything you do behind them has it's efficacy massively reduced.

With the GTS you need to go full bore, or leave it as is.

Anyone installed a valve controller on the GTS? Or specifically, GTS with particulate filter? Like a 2023? I was told by Forza, who makes the controller that I may not wanna buy a valve controller for my 2023 GTS because it has particular filter and the computer looks for certain pressure in the exhaust, and if I open the valves manually, the computer will think there’s a problem and either trigger the check engine light or going to limp mode. Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

I'll let you know as soon as mine gets here. I have the Capristo thingie sitting in my garage, but I can't imagine a 23 is any different than a 22.
