Some good reading: https://www.rossoautomobili.com/articles/a-deep-dive-into-the-ferrari-monzas-design
I know the idea behind the Monza was an 'open' concept but a coupe version would be a spectacular alternative. A coupe would also eliminate the two humps...
How do you decide if you want a 2 seater or single seater? Seems to me the single seater is more unique but the two seater more useful. 1000 x 1.8 million each = a lot of $$$$$$. Ferrari will make a lot more money off this than McLaren did on the P1. Are there really 1000 people out there who will qualify to get one and spend $2m for it? This car cannot be road legal with no windscreen or wipers. So it seems only track only?
I do not believe this is a $1.82M track car. Track cars look a lot different (FX, FXX, Zonda, etc.). Much more track only features in competitive track cars. My take is this is a display car designed for resale at future actions with next to no miles. But still the resale numbers are a little fuzzy for a 1000x example car with such a high MSRP built on a non-bespoke common chassis and drivetrain. That and there are many more of these type cars to come in the ongoing series. I'm sure they will sell them all its just a different kind of marketing plan for a public company. I'm sure it will appeal to at least 1,000 buyers with the hope being 1,001.
but mr enrico galliera said to bloomberg that total 499 will be built, with the split between SP1s and SP2s. to be dictated by customer preference. Buyers will not be able to buy both. If only one choose to buy a sp1 then they will built only one sp1.
I am not sure any car can sell 1000 copies at 1.82m. This is no longer a bull market for classic cars...check out the supply of 918s, McLaren P1s or even Sennas now that they have started being delivered... Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I didn't believe McLaren would sell 250 P1's but they did. But this is really pushing the limit even at 499 if it's not road legal.
Agree and the list price of the P1 was almost half of what the Monza is selling for... and it was a better market in my opinion Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
SP1 and SP2 production is limited to 499 total between the two types. The quantity produced of each will be decided by the buyers, there is no set quantity for SP1 or SP2, just combined it is limited to 499. They are not road legal in the USA but they are legal in many other countries.
I think the article is incorrect/ perhaps an issue with translation. Every other source has said 499 total. The clients can choose between SP1 and SP2 and the split won't be known until all the cars are produced.
Although not limited to the Monza SP1 & SP2, there are some very nice pics here: http://arthomobiles.fr/Finali18/Finali18samedi.htm
Perhaps I expressed myself incorrectly, my apologies. A 918 or a P1 is not a “classic” car either. I guess what I mean is that all of these cars are considered rare and collectible. Some are proper classics (eg a 250 Lusso) and some are modern/future “classics”. In that sense a TDF a LaFerrari or a Monza SP1/2 belong in the latter category. Based on what I am seeing -perhaps you have a different opinion- there isn’t much difference in market sentiment between the two categories right now. Both are heading lower, which is not necessarily a bad thing for those of us who enjoy buying and driving as opposed to investing. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Thank you for the link! Nicolas showed many of his wonderful pictures there. The simple beauty of the 812 Monza is well received; yet the old 328 GTB in silver even now still commands ardent attention...

I sat in the SP1 today and was literally taken back by how far back you are sitting in chassis. It will take a bit of getting used to. I have an 812 and a GTC Lusso so am familiar with the long front end on these 12 cylinders F cars but the Monza feels like you are sitting farther back. Maybe it’s an illusion because there is no windshield but the engine compartment feels like it is longer than either of my other V12’s. The front also drops off so you don’t really see the end of it. I asked someone to stand at the nose (because you can’t see it from the cockpit and was amazed. It’s very different than anything I’ve sat in and will be super exciting to drive at speed, but you will need to recalibrate your driving technique to make up for your position in the chassis. I know it’s on an Superfast chassis but it just feels longer because of how far back you are sitting. I think 4 wheel steering will feel more obvious. You also feel like you’re sitting lower in the chassis than the 812, I felt the dash and steering wheel were just below my line of sight, I think the seat lifter is necessary if your normal height. You are cocooned and it feels great, yet you are outside, sort of like being in a huge formula car. With this car’s power to weight ratio and the no windshield, open air howl of the V12, it’s going to be epic spectacular!!! Back to another era with today’s most powerful Ferrari V12, brakes and handling, WOW!!!
Obviously a very exciting time there from your comments. Do you prefer the SP1 or the SP2 version? Any thoughts regarding color combinations that you can share? Thank you!
I went for the SP2 to be able to do driving events that usually require a navigator. White with NART Blu accents, blue carbon and Blu Sterling leather.
White with NART Blu accents sounds like a classic USA build spec, reminds me of the Briggs Cunningham racing tradition. The Blu Sterling leather offers a nice subtle contrast to with the white exterior. Did they give any indication of the production schedule? Thank you for sharing your MONZA SP2 build spec here!
