812 Purchase: GPF+Nannies or not?

  1. Does not matter, I'll have my 812 any way it is served

  2. Old school: No thanks, no GPF, no nannies (automatic emergency braking)

  3. New school; I only want an 812 if it has GPF+nannies, the more the better!

As you many have heard, the F8 Tributo already includes Gasoline Particulate Filters (GPF) and the thinking is this will eventually be part of every Ferrari produced, including the 812. You may also know that the GPF can lead to reduce vibrancy of exhaust note.

You may also be aware that 40 countries, starting from 2020, are mandating automatic emergency braking:

    https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/eu-japan-back-automatic-braking-regulation

And Michael Leiters has already essentially confirmed this will be occurring:

So, question is, does any of this influence/affect your decision making regarding a possible 812 purchase or order?

As with any new technology there may be unforeseen consequences that only manifest themselves over time. Only brave test pilots need apply...;)

My 812 is due late summer/early fall so I hope it doesn't include any of this rubbish.

If it is a MY2019 build you should be fine particularly if you car is currently status/stage 20 or beyond (this is my hypothesis), if the car is to be a MY2020 it could include these new things...let us know either way once you car arrives, thank you

Thanks, I took delivery August 2018 of my 488 which the dealer said was was one of the first MY 2019 cars they received so I'm thinking the 812 will be a MY2020 car.

I already got my 812 so I guess it doesn't bother me. However the mandatory HELE thing is already annoying.

As for future cars I would rather they not junk them up with stuff like this but if you don't have a choice you don't have a choice. I will judge future cars based on their merits at the time.

Do you have to turn HELE off every time you start the car or is there a default off?

Yes, you have to. It‘s no default off like on the F12 Berlinetta for example.

The AEB is defeatable, so don't worry about it.
