Yes. I was referring to the 911 - it is through the on screen menu. Although you can assign that function to an actual button on the steering wheel which I have done. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
By the way, if as someone suggests above, that F167 allocation will be restricted to buyers of previous (I assume new) V12s, then I have bought my last new Ferrari as well. I have only bought 2 new V8s, the V12s have all been second hand. Does anybody else know anything about this ?
Probably true for the first round of buyers. But come year 2-3 and it's fair game to anyone walking into a dealership!
I read this and feel the brand is not following the direction it should… https://www.motor1.com/news/661922/ferrari-samsung-oled-partnership-announcement/ If they want to compete with Tesla having the best screens, instead of with Bugatti and their more classic stylish analog rule… can’t they see a Rolex keeps more value than an Apple Watch that every year is outdated by the newer version?
Just check where CEO Benedetto Vigna comes from and who from Apple and other tech giants is sitting on the board. Marcel Massini
It’s as if they determine what their client base wants, then do exactly the opposite. Instead of investing in a new V12 or sustainable fuel solutions to ensure the future of ICE engines, we get new touch screens that won’t work half the time and will be outdated within 5 years. Sorry to keep being such a pessimist. I guess we should just be happy we’re getting a V12 (however strangled and muted it may be). After this car and it’s variants, there won’t be much left to get excited about.
Nothing new there. All new Ferraris have screens. Did you really think they would go back to gauges with needles? Not many manufacturers use needles any more. These things are unimportant anyway.
I’ve been bitching for years about the gran turismo screens and how they will age very badly. Can’t wait to see a v12 classic? body with a video game interior. No thanks. Worst of all we may as well talk to the wall.
I was under the impression that the important thing is how a car performs and feels to drive. Gauges are there just to give information to the driver. Nothing to do with age, just priorities.
There are screens and then there are screens. If the screens are simply informative, that’s fine, but integrate into the car, don’t put a d*** iPad in the middle of a beautiful interior. And don’t dispense with actual buttons and switchgear arbitrarily. There is something to be said for elegance. I have screens in the 812, but they are fine. They don’t try to be cute. The infotainment on our Portofino M is not completely awful but is cumbersome and won’t age well, I think. But there are redundant buttons for the important things and it is “fairly” well integrated. And there is a satisfying mechanical feel to the start button! Surely you understand that it is not just performance, but the entire experience- the smell of leather, the beautiful stitching and the glorious feel and sound of the distinctive V12. Of course I understand that these things are important to some people, but not to all. Some prefer a stripped out interior with Alcantara seats, for example.
Can you order an 812 with a stripped out interior? I don’t think so. Of course some prefer alcantara. But I don’t think Ferrari ever offered a stripped down 812. There are other options for a stripped down performance is all that matters car. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Alcantara is offered as an option instead of leather. You can do race seats with alacantara, for example.
When I was looking at new Astons, the gripe amongst reviewers was that they didn't have touch screens.......screw that! Those are plusses. I guess I'm old too, decided against the reliable Merc turbos and went NA V12: gen 2 Vanquish instead.
Funny how Pagani realized all this and went backwards, decided to make cars that would look elegant and timeless in 50 years which is why he ditched the large center screen, same with GMA. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Give me a mechanical watch with display back that shows the working gears and is +/- 15 seconds a day over a perfectly accurate digital quartz watch with an OLED screen any day.
I think the entire mechanical watch industry disagrees with your statement…. And so do buyers of those brands it seems!
Sorry but IMO Pagani went way too far backwards, very ugly caricature interiors and not because of the 'gauges vs. screens', they're plain ugly.
