Ram believe it or not has the best screens... Infotainment and blue tooth in the business. I believe Garmin makes all of it
F40 is stripped down interior. 812 SF with carbon race seats is not. Get serious. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The unthinkable has happened and it's such a sad day for me to let go of this magnificent V12 (F140). She will be on her way to a new home/owner, that doesn't mind having the car connected to the battery tender 24/7 and hardly will be driven. Wait 2 years and you’ll find plenty of those 812 replacement for sale second hand. They will make a lot of them for a few years. This is marketing trying to give the impression you can’t get it. They did the same with the 812 gts supposed to be a short production run in the end they will produce it for at least 5 years and make thousands of them and plenty can be found second hand. Let’s not be naive
The plan with all these gee whiz screens is exactly as planned- obsolescence every 3 years or so. This has been the tech industry plan for cell phones and laptops for decades now- and now Ferrari has caught on- instead of the cars being coddled and idealized by their buyers and held for years they want turnover- more sales, more money. Eventually this scheme starts backfiring as the item becomes a commodity, made cheaper and cheaper and eventually that new IPhone isn’t much better than the last one and sales start to drop. This may take 10 years or more to happen to Ferrari or as the saying goes: “It takes years to build a reputation and minutes to destroy it” Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I take it you're getting the Huracan STO? I had a Huracan Spyder and i didn't enjoy it much. Very low to the ground, flat windshield like a jeep, cramped interior. Let us know how your experience compares.
The question was whether one prefers plush leather seats, elaborate stitching etc and regards these things as part of the 812 experience. My reply was that one can spec a much spirtier interior, without leather because he/she might prefer that kind of experience.
What were we talking about? LOL I forget. Oh, that it is not just strictly being the fastest. Many other things are part of my preference for a Ferrari over another brand. I suspect that is true for others as well. What I am gathering is that most in this thread do not consider haptics and total glass instruments to be part of that experience. It is true for me as well. I wanted to love the Roma but I don’t. I can’t abide the two pods and iPad sticking up in the middle. I opted for a Porsche TTS Cab instead. Preferring leather or alcantara is not relevant. I cannot spec gauges with real needles. [emoji6] But a V12 is glorious and therefore is a higher priority than analog-ish gauges… Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
People who actually purchase these cars might or might not … as opposed to people who don’t and endlessly and pointlessly post about them for some weird reason.
Oh you continue to miss the point of many who despair glass panel instruments. For you it doesn’t matter. For many it does. But if you have not owned one, it is still aspirational and given the means you would shell out $400k+ even if it was glass panels. Not so for everyone - for various reasons. It is not difficult to understand. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
About the only glass panels I would look at would be the Tach (maybe the speedometer) and vehicle mechanical info(oil temp, tire pressures etc) At 8000+ rpm everything else is superfluous. But I get the glass panel issues- trying to navigate a menu and touch the right virtual buttons while the car is bouncing along(even in rough road mode) is challenging at the very least. And since most of the panels look like an IPad tacked on to the dash- unappealing to like at. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Are there spy pictures of the interior, curious to know if the 812 replacement ( F167 ) will be a 4-seater ( 2 small backseats like in the Roma)
I’m no expert obviously but since anyone can comment…. I will be surprised if it has any back seats at all, since that would leave no 2 seater V12 in the lineup. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The discussion was about the instrument panel, as you poignantly alluded to. Touchscreens are indeed infuriating, but that's another topic of discussion.
