The sound is a fair point John. Its a fair point :(
Heavier hybrids are unfortunate. If they took 300+ pounds out of the 812 they wouldn’t need to add power to make it better in all dynamic respects. That would be a great send off for the NA V12 if regulations force it.
167 is not a Roma! Fluid and pure does not mean Roma! Gives the visual impression of more compactness than 812.
Thank you for clarifying. I personally find is nearly impossible to believe that the 812 successor will look anything like the Roma. This is Ferrari we are talking about not Porsche or Aston Martin.
As Colin Chapman once famously said and I quote '' Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere.''
that feels very far off, would assume that all GTS and Competizione on order will finish production next year, plus adding a year from announcement for first deliveries, would mean that there wouldn't be a big Ferrari GT delivered to customers till say early 2025 what is then Ferrari's product strategy until then? Currently there are 5 models for order and I would assume that SF 90 Spider will be gone soon too (maybe next year) as will the Portofino M (maybe 2023?) and the SP3, so for the next couple of yeas we just would have 296 GTB/ GTS Roma (maybe a Spider) Purosangue anything else?
When the chap says 2023 I am taking that to mean customer deliveries, with the car being announced next yr.
Come on day355 you can’t leave your friends hanging like this! Can you post up a picture of any car in history that the design of the F167 reminds you of? Pretty please!
I’m all for more fluid and compact. These days unfortunately it does not mean lighter. The 812 replacement will in all likelihood be a porker just like the current model especially if it goes hybrid and the Ferrari engineers will do a marvelous job of hiding the added weight with a lower center of gravity and more electronic wizardry. Ok up to a point but the laws of physics have not been disproven. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The 296GTS has not even been revealed, it is presumed to be within then next 12 months, but who knows, we do expect it, and yes you will eventually be able to order. A Roma spider? Seems quite unlikely, the list should include the Portofino as it can still be ordered. Think about the Ferrari dealers, they are truly hurting for product to sell, the Purosangue remains unavailable for now and appears it will be limited once revealed, orders cannot be placed yet. To me, the F167 is not an absolute, years in the future is another way of saying 'maybe'. I think the plan was for the 812 'family' to be the end of the V12, that's why Leiters, since at least early 2019, has been quoted as "fighting for the V12"... since then we have seen the 812GTS, Icona1,2,3, 812C and 812CA, and, other than the 812GTS, none can be ordered (invite only). Remember the F167 project name was first revealed in 2017 ! That is an impossibly loooong gestation period from project name to first reveal (I count it was being 7 years) and therefore I think it may not even happen. Also remember, the SF90 was made "top of the range" in May 2019 and that destroyed the 812SF order queue. Will Ferrari go back to the V12 being top of the range (for regular production?) Will the V8 remain after the SF90 is completed? Will the V6 be new top of range or will it be full electric as top of the range??? I know there is a lot of rumor of a new V12 engine, etc, likely one that can be mated with a hybrid system and hopefully remain available without such complexity. All I do know for sure is there is a lot of waiting involved to see if F167 actually happens or not, once we witness test mules it will become more real...until then, dreaming is all we have.
No the 250 SWB is too angular (not curvy) compared to the 275 GTB. They are already building 250 SWB models in the UK so not a good look. With all that said; just having a bit of fun with day355...
Just think of all the Special Edition 275 GTB models they could pump out in tailor made. Then the very limited NART convertible series. I want the 'Steve McQueen Edition' in blue! Image Unavailable, Please Login
