I don't know what the 812 SF successor will look like. But i can say which line i see as flowing, pure, sculptural, sporty... and timeless! I call these line (marked in red in my own digital drawings) that of the "two waves". This line is typical for the 250 GT SWB, the 275 GTB and one of my all-time favorites, the 550 Maranello.
The drawings are wonderful in their details! The fender character line was much debated here when the 550 Maranello was introduced. Some liked the line but others thought it was a design distraction. However the character line in some version has long been featured on Ferrari designs even going back to the 1950's. This 1958 California Spyder LWB showcases a fine example of that character line> Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login The 1957 250 GT Spyder shows a more extreme example of the character line but just for the pilot...
I may have virtual rocks thrown at me but I am getting a GTO Eng 250 Swb and I promise to race it and use it weekly/often . I own a number of modern Ferrari’s and I am doing a hands on resto of an 83 308 GTS euro car. The donor for my 250 is a beyond repair 250 GTE and I see it as a service of getting the motor back on the road and NOT destroying a car that could be made road easy again. Probably should have not digressed here but as a proud 812 GTS owner I figured I would mention since many of us love the 250 SWB
Did the damaged 250 SWB that Mr. Swaters kept in the basement at his dealership ever come back to Ferrari Classiche for a repair job?
You’re really enjoying this aren’t you!? Tell me this...I think the 250 SWB is automotive divinity...when the F167 comes out will I instantly want to order one and dump my 812?
I think in terms of design, the 550 Maranello has always been a kind of bridge between the classic and the new era. The 250 GT SWB is something different... it's like listening to Mozart (Lacrimosa?). A timeless masterpiece.
A modern car like the F12 Berlinetta plays very subliminally with the historical elements of a 275 GTB in the rear. If the successor to the 812 SF can do this equally well, we can be satisfied. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I can tell you that I'm absolutely sure ! The same day you are at your dealership to put down a deposit
