It looks like the car will certainly come with a fully digital dash, my dealer confirmed yesterday. To me I really do not care for a dash without a physical rev counter in a car like this, is this a negative for anyone else and if so does anyone think 812's will be more desirable as last with physical rev counter buttons etc in years to come?

I think this is a very important point. Digital dash designs date very quickly, and appear cheap - because they are. Cars like this should be designed to stand the test of time. To me, that means having a high quality interior that’s built to last. Think Patek rather than Swatch.

And it’s not just an aesthetic thing. It’s a practicality and safety thing. I find buttons easy to operate. I hate trying to operate controls via touch panels because I have to take my eyes off the road and rarely succeed first time, to hit the ‘button’ I need.

Finally - find me one person who prefers starting their Ferrari via a touch sensitive control instead of pushing a big red ‘Start’ button?

Some observations from some HD photos posted on CarScoops (with credits to Baldauf):

    1. In the first photo, visible from the volumes next to the hood, there are still fake panels, and it is not yet possible to see the final shape of the hood.
    2. In the second photo, the cuts of the cofango-style opening are already visible.
    3. In the second photo, it is clear that there are still fake panels on the rear side.
    4. In the third and fourth photos, is it the first definitive body panel exposed, in matte black? It is at a greater depth than the fake panels.
    5. In the third and fourth photos, it is visible, from the depth at which the fuel cap is located, that the fake panels are very thick.
    6. Still in the third photo, it is noted that apparently there will not be the central screen seen on the Roma-style mule.

Yes - we’ve seen these panels exposed in earlier spy shots. I presume that the panels are exposed in order to allow the ADAS blind spot detectors to function properly.

Think clutching at straws if more desirable because of buttons and rev counter.. F12 has a stronger case, to be more desirable as last pininfarina design, last hydraulic steering, no rear assist steering help, no GPF, and no convertible option, to distort the 2nd hand market, and built in significant less numbers than 812..

But the truly most desirable is the last manual with only analog instrumentation.

Or is it the last carbureted one?

If you want leather interior you can order it on the SP3.
Also the seats are fixed but everything else including the pedals is adjustable. In terms of comfort it is better than most road cars I have driven

nice to know they offer leather. unfortunately there are too many self indulgent wankers in this city with too much bloody money! (Nic Cage) and these trend sucking dilettantes are hoovering up alcantara just like they did carbon fiber interior trims 15 years ago. go on a diet buddy you'll save more weight than all the alcantara and carbon fiber trim combined. (full disclosure my Ferraris have alcantara and carbon fiber but i bought them used and didn't get to spec them, also this post was made tongue in cheekiness).

Thats 4020 lbs. Holy crap. I know car and driver/motortrend both quote this car at 3850 lbs with manual daytona seats. But that explains 70 lbs more weight. Your car has yet another 100 lbs extra. Could it be GPF? Do you have them? Or titanium exhaust?

But how well does a car that weigh 4000 lbs even handle? I am in the market for a SF but seeing these I get really worried. Coming from 911 GT3s and Mclarens….

Can’t remember the fuel level to be honest, this was a year ago. I think it was a full tank.

    Bone stock, no GPF. It’s a 2019.

I had a 720 and 991.2 GT3 prior to the 812. If you’re expecting the same level of handling you’ll be disappointed. But then again you don’t drive the 812 the same way. It’s much roomier and comfier, and the V12’s gradual torque feels amazing.

I kept both my GT3 and 812 at the same time because they’re such different experiences. When I get the extreme driving itch, I take the GT3 out. But that’s only once every week or two weeks. Every other time it’s the 812. Every event or night out, every road trip, every night cruise, always the 812.

Thanks. How does the 720S compare to either car?

Is the driver short or did they adjust the seating position downwards?

We have GT3s, McLaren plus others. 812 is brilliant in the handling department, though it is obviously different to something like a 992 GT3. We just bought a touring to replace our 992 GT3. What a car, first time we chose a manual GT product (I usually use them on track days so choose PDK). Lovely manual gearbox, though I remain a PDK guy mainly. The front end is fantastic. 812 front is not like that but it still handles beautifully and with a n/a 800hp Ferrari V12 providing the shove, it’s quite a car, irrespective of weight. Weight is very spec dependent too - seats, upgraded stereo, wheels, AFS etc. the 1,750kg will likely be right with the right spec. But it’s not a light car. Better to tolerate the extra 100 kgs and get the spec you want given the price. You’ll notice the wrong spec much more than the extra weight. (Though we have had three versions of 812 and ordered the sports seats in each - very comfortable and well worth it for the seat feel irrespective of the reduced weight).
