They look like the usual ‘generic’ 10-spoke development wheels we’ve seen on almost all the prototypes.

I guess the only people that would know are those who have actually seen the car - the rest of us are just guessing from different views of the mule.

When we superimpose the rear and part of the side of the 812 SF on one of the more recent F167 mules, they fit almost perfectly. Therefore, it can be deduced that the mule in the picture below is based on the 812 SF. However, two details draw attention to the mule. The first is the position of the fuel tank cap lid, which in relation to the 812 SF is located closer to the edge of the rear fender. The second is that large opening that can be seen at the rear and which is located in the area of one of the small air outtakes of the 812 SF. If this large opening that we see on the mule eventually turns out to be an air outtake, its size can only be compared to that of the rear air outtakes of the 812 C.

    I think you're wrong, sorry!
It's not 812 based, and it's not a "mule"; it's a prototype of the real car.

In my understanding a 'Mule' is the generic term which is used in the automotive industry to designate the very first prototypes used to test design, technology, mechanics, body, etc. of a future car.

This one is different from other mules regarding the roof camouflage, isn´t it?
Could be the first convertible mule...

I would be really dissapointed on an old fashioned uninspiring design like this. It totally lacks emotion and beautiful curves.

I'm relieved that it doesn't contain confirmed elements (such as Daytona style air outlets on the bonnet).

No; as far as I know, mules are the step before prototypes; the so called "Roma-2" was a "mule": the purpose of a mule is testing the new "hardware" under cover, with a body created by copy/past other models already known.
The PS with the skin of a modified Maserati Levante was a "mule".
If a prototype is a prototype, there's no meaning in call it "a mule" ;)

It is not my intention to create a controversy on this subject. However, if you check the literature on this subject, the name "Mule" in the automotive industry applies to all prototypes with camouflage and is described as I posted before. On Wikipedia they synthesize it like this. "A development mule, also known as test mule or simply mule, in the automotive industry is a testbed vehicle equipped with prototype components requiring evaluation. They are often camouflaged to cover their designs."

What this does show, I think, is that the gas cap—lying on the rear fender surface, as it does—location and orientation point to a rear fender that is not tapering to the rear but that is on some sort of wheel flare… gr. 4 style, right @day355 ? ;)

Very interesting. It is very enlightening to see these subtle details explained by someone who knows the art of automotive design.:)
