I just don't get how manufacturers can test out the final aerodynamics with all these covers on, or is all the aero talk just marketing and everything is just there for styling? (I'm talking about all manufacturers in general, not just Ferrari)

They can do testing at Balocco or Nardo with more privacy. In the streets around the factory they get lots of attention but they can't drive at speeds high enough to test the aero anyway.

It will be mandatory for the F167's lap time at Fiorano to beat that of the 812 SF to maintain the tradition in which the successor is always faster than the predecessor. Although Ferrari is not a big fan of the Nurburgring circuit, for many of us the lap time taken there is still the best comparison of how truly fast a sports car is.

Yes, but here with the “real” Daytona successor (=F167) it is more than that: It is the continuation of a historical theme, namely the extension of the signal lights through chromed “bumpers“.
Marcel Massini mentioned this in #6376:
“Somehow reminding of a plexiglass Daytona. Front turn signal lights with sort of chromed extension. Interesting detail.“
And as we know from day355, the front will be historically inspired.

@isot: And yes, this is the “bad“ prototype for us. But this detail is clearly visible here with the help of our experts.

I seen this details in many many cars with the black fabric coat.. There will be a black/transparent plastic element that goes around the headlights and extends to the sides under the cofango cutout

Looks like a fender bender will be much more expensive than the usual Ferrari expensive

You can clearly see all the plastic covers in this pic. Look at the areas I highlighted.

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

1- look at the height difference between the rear window and the panel surrounding it
2- the extra width under the green line I drew on the side panel, if it's not clear look at the original picture again. Even the door handles seem buried deeper than the fake panel.
3- the only real part of the rear bumper looks to be the weird sideways "U" shape, the rest looks all fake
4- i think there's more in the front but it's not clear on this picture
    5- roofline seems genuine

All of this tells me that this car will be all around smaller than it looks to be now, and maybe different looking.

Thank you for posting this exclusive picture of the latest F167 mule. As referred recently by Isot the exterior bodywork of the mule you can see in that picture is made of several panels and parts that form a shell and which are attached to the real bodywork and whose purpose is to hide it. Until this shell is at least partially removed, it will be almost impossible to guess what it hides.
The two other pictures below explain how that's done when making a Smart look like a Ferrari. What Ferrari did with this mule is the opposite, they transformed a Ferrari into a combat car. :)

Thank you so much for highlighting this. The camo does throw your judgement/perception in all kinds of directions. Yes I've noticed the smaller physical size vs previous V12 cars. Do you think this will be the best handling, front-mounted V12 Ferrari has ever produced? I'm beginning to think so.

Another little quick sketch for the F167 to pass the time: Short and muscular rear with a dominating exhaust- and aero unit in the lower part. I really hope this is the direction the final car takes.
For me it´s very frustrating to look only at the totally camouflaged and disfigured test cars... and I think many people in this thread feel the same way.

A rendering of the F167 published a few hours ago by the Italian website clubalfa.it.
The render has the Ferrari DNA but with many details cloned from previous models.
