I prefer curves to angles. I have asked my dealer to put me on the list as soon as this is announced. Still plan to keep my 812. I think 2 V12s in the garage is not too excessive.. :)

2 V12's definitely not excessive, quite frankly 2 V12 for a true ferrarista is a pre requisite

The 812 vents don't need to be there to cool the car or provide aero. Its a Manzoni attempt at taking what was a PF design and doing something to make it look different. The recent V12 replacements lose the previous 'aero' that was touted and replaces it with something different (F12 aero bridge replaced by 812sf fender/hood vents, replaced by 812gts losing the input to the rear vents rendering them useless, replaced by 812c no vents and rear windshield solid with ridges). Downforce is achieved by the sum of the overall design so no two designs need to be very consistent given the same platform. Same thing with cooling.

Keep in mind Roma is/was the Maserati GT replacement that was decided to become a Ferrari at the last minute, I wouldn’t want the new V12 (if there’s one) to be an iteration of this design language.

I am in this corner also. People spend this kind of money to have something distinct and rare as possible. To buy a ROMA on steroids (with V12) for a 812 replacement will deflate a lot of peoples desire to purchase it.. If someone came up to me and said that is a nice Roma after spending twice the amount of a Roma to get a 812 replacement that looks similar, would deflate me . It has to be distinctive for its own time and place. This does not preclude it being classy, it just can not look like a Roma.

Guys, Ferrari knows better. No, it will not be just a Roma with a V12. It will be very distinctive. This is just a test mule that is obviously using a Roma body. The same way they used a Levante to test some of the techs for the Purosangue. They will never let an unreleased model out in the open without proper camouflage. Ie the fabric stuff that goes over the full car.

Remember with the 488 - Pista- F8 , folks where a bit stunned when the F8 appeared with a bunch of Pista bit n pieces? (as a stop gap before the 296 was finalized)

Would they dare do 812-812 Comp - F whatever appears with a bunch of Comp bits n pieces on it (as a stop gap before the next new Hybrid model turns up)?

The Roma uses the new Ferrari aluminium platform. Nothing to do with Maserati.

Why stretch a Roma body just for testing, seems like a lot of work? Why not just use an 812 (or F12) body for testing??? I still think this is an SP car and not a regular production...

I guess I am a weird Ferrari fan. I could not care less when people mistake the 812 for a corvette. I never correct. I love it for the experience and sensations. The extra attention is a disadvantage for me.

So if it is rounder, smoother and more discrete, I am happy. As long as it is beautiful (to me) and the glorious V12, I’m in. Otherwise I would get a purple Lamborghini.

This forum cracks me. Literally every new Ferrari for the past 20+ years has used the body of a prior model as a test mule. Now we see a slightly elongated Roma with an 812 rear window and all of a sudden everyone is convinced that the 812 replacement will simply be Roma with a V12? I guess it would be asking too much of an Internet forum to employ basic observation and draw from prior experiences to make logical deductions rather than arguing about something pointless for several pages…

Yeaaaaahhh so? It’s a mule. It has a V12. So it will look different, no?! Ferrari aren’t just going to throw a V12 in a Roma, are they?!?!

the back glass of the wrapped car suggests it is more than mule, it is likely, in my mind, a special project, customized for a preferred client...otherwise the car makes zero sense

I don’t think so. The back glass is the same shape as the outgoing 812. They aren’t going to use that on the new model.
