With or without the black strip, that first render is not a flattering angle. That's OK with me personally. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I was never a big fan of the plexi nose on the Daytona. I think that car looks better with the nose in body color too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The pic of the painted front looks like the first generation Tesla roadster. Terribly bland. I’m in the minority, but really like the roof design in pics. I look forward to seeing the actual shape in person.
I am entitled to zero credit! I believe that's a real car. They did not all feature the black trim when new. A few other examples. Reasonable people will disagree. Potato, potato. But I prefer this look. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It might work for some and not for others. Whether or not body color works, the black trim definitely does not work for me on the 12C. At least not in the photos. I reserve the right to change my opinion when I see it in person.
Nice renderings Mario. For whatever its worth, indulging my being an "arm chair quarterback" - it would have advised to do the coupe as they presented it, with the winglets in black, which echos the delta wing look. Or at least let it be optional. I would have advised against this for the spider. Without the delta wing, the spider has a more traditional appeal, and the winglets look out of place, at least to me. I would have also allowed it to be client choice on the front black area- I bet most would go for it, because it's a distinguishing characteristic of the design. I will say this- everyone I know that has seen the car in person- it's literally 100% everyone- loves it and says it looks great. So- no big surprise, a new design from Ferrari and we have to see it in person. As they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.....
IMO I don't think Ferrari are going to allow the black pieces to be anything besides black or carbon \ It's not just Manzoni's decision I think all the respected heads are on board with it
thanks Mario. Your effort is highly appreciated. If possible add the body lines that separate winglets and one also on bonnet between the lights. So to get more realistic feeling.
As I am not a professional in the art of rendering but a mere apprentice, this is the best I can do Looking at the options below, it seems to me that the choice of any of them depends solely on the individual taste of each of the future owners of the 12 Cilindri coupé. I think also the hips look much better accentuated in body color which didn’t really consider until reviewing this rear quarter overhead shot. Other than the odd triangle, the black appears to give less prominence to the rear muscle of the car. Sort of abruptly stops.
I agree. The front without the black part loses all its identity and presence. Doesn’t make sense without it.
I am far from this car's biggest fan...but thats a stretch. And jeez, we have to stop showing this particular perspective. Does anyone think that picture is flattering? I guess someone at Ferrari does since it was used in the launch materials. But goodness, the car looks much better to me from almost any other angle.
The shape of the car from every angle is very elegant and sporty, it's just those black details, front and rear, that made some people think - ... what if ... ? Image Unavailable, Please Login I'd take this approach if the factory were able to do it that way. Below is just an exercise and probably not realistic minimal panel gaps, Image Unavailable, Please Login but the most likely, the single color front would be accomplished by the factory like this: Image Unavailable, Please Login but still a big improvement over the original: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Personally, I'm 100% with you on the black trim dominating an otherwise beautiful design (acknowledging that I could change my mind when I see it in the metal). I agree it looks great and vastly improved with the black trim painted. Others will say the opposite. Nothing wrong with that. Potato, potato. But it's nothing if not divisive. Not an adjective I'd want to describe what could be the last production V12. Particularly given the stubborn refusal to allow customers to choose. Mais c'est la vie. That aside, black trim or not, I still think that angle is quite unflattering. Great renders though!
The pictures of the 12 C presented so far by Ferrari and also those obtained in the configurator, have something unreal and artificial and are therefore unconvincing. The photos below are of a camouflaged 12 C spider and from the three angles you can see that the car is quite attractive. In this camouflaged version of the 12 C spider, the black areas of the original car are almost imperceptible at the front and rear. IMO this means that there is no sharp contrast between the color of the car and the black areas at the front and rear areas of the original car and everything seems to be more harmonious. I just can’t see it no matter how hard I try. The more people talk about it the better impression I have of Manzoni. It looks multiple times better with the black. What on earth are you thinking? Without it looks unbalanced and very boring.
Again, agree to disagree. You and many others like the black trim and that's great. Some of us don't like it and think the car looks better without it. It's personal taste, nothing more complicated than that. Neither preference is right or wrong.
As you can see in the first picture, which is very recent, Ferrari continues testing the 12 C, in this case it is emissions tests. The angle from which this picture was taken is one I normally look at when evaluating the lines of a car. That's why I placed the following three pictures side by side. In the first one, the 12 C coupé is completely camouflaged, in the second it has the entire rear delta wing defined in black, in the third, the rear flaps are camouflaged, therefore only a part of the delta wing is visible. Each of the variants makes the 12 C coupé rear look different. We know which variant Flavio Manzoni imposes to Ferrari customers. However, looking at pictures two and three and from this angle, IMO the non-Manzoni variant is the one that looks better. But as I mentioned previously, only by seeing the car live from different angles is it possible to confirm or not the visual impressions based on pictures. .
