This is how Flavio Manzoni explains to mortals the design of what he considers to be his last masterpiece. When the F12 Berlinetta was launched, in many of the interviews Manzoni gave, he always presented himself as the great creator of its design always putting Pininfarina's collaboration in the background. But unfortunately for Manzoni, the emblems on the sides of the F12 Berlinetta do not have his name but that of Pininfarina. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Looks much better than on photos, expect the ugly wheels. But, what a huge car. Red is definitely not a good color for it imho. The discussed 'black' parts look and feel like plastic. And these parts are not black, but greyish, as you can see. That makes them even worse because they are in contrast to the rest of the black parts made of glass. The look of one black delta wing is gone live... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Simply awful. Look how those mandatory dark sections show all the lint, dust, and airborne junk that clings to car. PLASTIC STATIC CLING
That car looks particularly dirty. All cars attract dust etc, but perhaps the lighting is extra harsh there as other Live Photos I've seen the plastic bits look more like a metallic black not grey. Thanks for sharing. Interesting some people absolutely love the car in red, and others state otherwise. As they start to get produced and sent out, it will be fun to see the different specs and colors and how each one accents this design differently.
This Rosso Imola unit from the presentations already has the black bits in Nero DS. In other words, it is impossible to reduce this contrast of tones between the plastic in Nero DS and the glass that forms an "absolute" black. On the roof it is possible, as the central part of the roof can be chosen in Nero DS, instead of glass. But at the rear, in the aero flaps, impossible. If they designed the delta, they should have at least thought about the standardization of the contrasting color, which the official drawings suggest.
I’m pretty sure the plastic parts are not Nero DS - or they are faded in the flashlights or presentation…
But anyway, you can see the contrast between the different black parts. So the ‚black theme‘ is gone due to production reasons obviously.
Two-tone is in in Nero DS, as shown in the configuration. Maybe it's (as you said) the lighting effect, and the contrast with the "absolute" black of the glass, but this Nero DS really looked like a Nero Stellato, it looked like a very metallic black, or even greyish. PS.: this photo was in another topic, and apparently it is the same R. Imola car from the presentations, with Blu Sterling interior. And thank you for the very detailed images. Yes I agree with you. Nero DS, which is pure solid black, should not form any contrast with the glass. And what is visible in the 12Cilindri is a grayish color, as you said. It is not possible to understand how Nero DS is in the configurations, not just for this specific car, but for all the presentation cars. Maybe - and I mean maybe - the plastic used distorts the tone, even when painted in Nero DS it turns into gray.
Maybe CdF would be better color as it is a chameleon/ grey to black and everything in between depending on the light Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
If the 12 C looks much better in person than in the pictures , at least that's already a positive thing. However, I am always suspicious of designs that are color sensitive and from what those who have seen the 12 C say it seems to be.
As far as I know and reg. to the configurator one can choose carbon or glass for the central part of the roof, but not Nero DS.
The two genuine Daytonas are beautiful. Although I will never understand why one puts a car, any car, in water. Marcel Massini
The A pillars, underside of mirrors and roof (if panoramic or carbon roof not selected) are ‘Nero lucido verniciato’. The front element between the lights, and the rear winglets, are ‘Nero retroverniciato in Nero velluto’. The lower trim around base of body, front and rear, and at base of windshield, is ‘Nero opaco verniciato’. ‘Acciato satinato’ is exhaust. Grills on hood, and just behind front wheels where clamshell meets lower body, are ‘nero opaco’. Standard (5 spoke) wheels - ‘Cerchioni in silver lucido’. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Both the glass roof and carbon roof are optional. Standard is in "Nero Lucido Verniciato", as user alelaw said in post 10195.
Your post is VERY informative, thank you very much. This clarifies a doubt that many of us had here, why the black parts are a "gray black" and with a metallic appearance, in contrast to the "absolute black" of the glass pieces. I see that a good option to match the black parts is to order all this pieces in Nero DS. IMO, it should have already been shown that way. Very strange that the configuration plate is Nero DS.
