Noticed my mistake. EU directive talks about radius, hence wall-to-wall turning circle can be up to 25 meters. In any case, Vanquish has 1.2 m wider turning circle compared to 12 Cilindri and that makes a huge difference.
Two very recent pictures of a blue 12 C in Maranello. Why Ferrari continues using the light camouflage triangles, what's the purpose ? One of the pictures shows what appears to be a high flow of water dripping from the tail pipes. According with some specialists a well-tuned engine will dribble water out of the tail pipes, this is normal. However, if there is a high flow of water it might mean a cracked cylinder, cylinder head, intake, or a leaking gasket. It is also possible that there is a coolant line accidentally connected to the intake. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I remember seeing the same in a video of a cilindri test mule. Water dripping, maybe even spitting out the tail pipes, at startup until warmed can be normal. Nothing to do with being a 'well tuned' engine, just normal reaction to humidity collected in the gas tank or engine/exhaust. But that (and the video I mentioned) showed more like what a boat's bilge pump would do. It is astonishingly bizarre! If it were coolant it would likely have a colored tint (blue/green/orange/red) but this appears to be clear, could it be gasoline? Could it be Ferrari pranking us?
In addition to GPF they've added GEF (Gasoline Exhaust Fluid) as yet another ridiculous emissions control device, and it sprang a leak! Ha!
Neither of those pictures are very flattering. The 12C has not grown on me yet. It seems big and heavy until you compare it to the new Vanquish which dwarfs it in comparison. Why have two seat GT Supercars become so fat and bloated.?
For one, to fit all the unnecessary "safety" devices, emissions control devices, electronics, and other superfluous garbage.
The fact that we are comparing the design of the latest Ferrari V12 GT with that of the recent Vanquish seems somewhat disturbing. Although V12 GT Ferraris have always been in a different league to Aston Martins, it appears that the 12 C controversial design has caused some to look elsewhere.
Coolant has color and there would be white smoke. My bet is just been washed and a liberal supply of hose water in tail pipe ends.
The 12C is certainly considered a miss for some. Combine that with the investment Aston is making to compete with the level of Ferrari. The new lineup + Valkyrie, Valour, etc. They’ve upped their game and it’s working. For me it’s not so much that the 12C is a bit underwhelming, it’s also that Aston is absolutely crushing it right now. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Have you driven both? I would say your statement is based on dogma vs fact. Both engines are great. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
“You’re” and I’ll take that as a no. Thank you for adding insightful value to the conversation Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Will the 12C beat out the AM Vanquish on a track? Most likely yes by some margin I would think. But most of us drive these as road cars. And there I think the two will be evenly matched with the AM having the better cockpit experience- less haptics, better interface and an interior that looks the price without having to TM it. All fair points. I’m punching an order. It will be here in 6-8 months. I’ll let everyone know what I think. I’m still going to power forward on a 12C too, although I have zero clarity on when that will deliver.
I kind of Thanks. Never had one…and I have to scratch the itch. I truly wish I didn’t have too. I sent an FChat friend a text describing my interest in a new Vanquish and he told me that his IPhone just depreciated from reading my message….lol.
Last chance to play down the 12 Cilindri. Soon the true nature of this car will be revealed. It might cause some surprises.
We should measure 12c sales against Vanquish sales and let the market decide. After all, you and I are just two guys with an opinion. The market dictates. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
