I sent my deposit for an 812 last week. I have my preliminary spec pretty much done. I have a 458 now without a suspension lifter and never needed it. I'd like to hear from 812/F12 owners on their opinion on the lifter. If my area where I drive and live in Western, PA does not require a lifter in my 458 (or my R8 when I had one), are things much different in the 812?

I have one on the TDF and have never once regretted specc’ing it in. Granted the front end of the TDF is a bit more elaborate than the 812, but I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. Peace of mind

I had a 458 with a lifter and never scraped the underside, almost felt like I didn’t need to use it but did anyway. I now have an F12 with the lifter and have managed to scrape the underside lightly with the lifter set to up. The overhang on the F12 is much longer and different in shape to the 458, I wouldn’t hesitate to order again.

I picked mine up last week and have used it three times since I had a minor scrape on a driveway. I would definitely spec it, especially if you do carbon up there. What’s the old saying...it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it ;). Although I think that was referencing something else.

If you don't need it with the 458, you probably won't need it with the 812. HOWEVER, if you ever have to go sell the car, I think having a lift is a big plus for many prospective buyers.

I use mine all the time on the F12 and ordered it on the 812. Maybe, it depends on where you live, but I’d definitely want that option if buying a used Ferrari.

I have never ordered lift. City car parks, ferries etc. have never been an issue. I didn’t order it even on a TM 812 (they said don’t bother unless you have carbon front, then maybe). I will order it on the Pista though since that looks longer and lower than my Speciale and will have carbon at the front.

I had it on a GT3RS mainly for resale. That I probably did need where I live since there are some big speed humps but I usually forgot to activate it until too late anyway.

Use mine on a daily basis with the 812. Works fast and easy. Think it's a mandatory option for the 812. You don't want to ever be in a situation where you wished you did spec it!

My 812 will have it, as well. Curious how long it takes for the front to lift? On my GT3 it was almost instantaneous. On my McLaren 650 it was VERY long.

458 never scraped the bottom of my driveway.
F12 will scrape the driveway every time unless I use the front lifter.

If it is the same as the TDF (and why wouldn’t it be), then it’s fairly quick. Pretty much the same as my GT3

Takes about 3 seconds, so it's fast and very user friendly. Drops down when going over 30mph.

The F12 nose overhang is significantly longer than the 458’s. It is much easier to scrape the nose underside on an F12 vs 458. I don’t have a lift on my 458 but glad I do on the F12....get a skid plate under the nose too.

Keep in mind when you raise one end of the car, you lower the other end!

Thank you everyone for the spirited opinions. I've (sort of) set a budget for options and I'm pitting the suspension lifter against the CF dash inserts that cost a ridiculous $7500. My 458 has all the carbon bits on the inside and no lifter. In the end I'll probably get both. Just going through the process and will be having fun figuring out my spec over the next year or so.

When you spec the lifter (GBP £3,264) bear in mind that you must also spec the adaptive headlights (GBP £1,920).

Yes thank for your reply. I had the adaptive headlights as an option listed even without the lifter. The configurator will prompt you to select lights if you select the lifter.

Just bought an amazing 812 that someone cancelled on and it doesn't have the lifter and does has a full carbon front and rear. Wish me luck!!!@!@ Working with the clear wrap team to see what the options are, something called easy flow?

The front lifter is a must have especially for resale.
