Ferrari always showcase the next gen tech on the Special series...this could well be hybrid to convince the old school that it can be quicker than the old (ultra fabulous) generation V12, this is sort of the only way the company can survive government legislation, for the record, I am 100% old school V12 here, maybe I can be converted....maybe

What’s the chance of an 812XX? It’s been a long time since the FXX debuted...

This was done 7 years ago, with the LaFerrari, the best Ferrari so far.

An SF90 Stradale XX would make more sense.

I think 812 platform/frame isn't suited to accomodate proper hybrid systems.
In my opinion they can't go beyond a mild-hybrid (no EV, no plug-in)

Don't get it , the VS is supposed to be the lightweight version of the 812 superfast
But even with a " soft hybrid" you should add one electric motor and a battery pack which means 150 kgs more.
Not logical I would say ..

    I agree with you.
I was trying to answer to those who are talking about hybrid on 812, from a "generic" point of view (without considering lightweight etc)

It's supposed to be the hard core version, not necessarily lighter though.

how much better can the engine be than the std 812? maybe few more hp and revs but there is a limit. more traction would be better for the vs

Very Exciting! I assume they are somehow getting past the GPF restrictions... Perhaps due to very limited production run?

This is always put out but forgotten that Ferarri is the engine master. You tell them what hp and torque you need and they will do it. Emissions and all. The current design team just cant seem to put a proper box around it.

Mechanical valve lifters like on the F12 tdF motor? But those are louder.

Better get the 812VS while you can. The "ALL Electric" Ferrari is coming after 2022.

the 812 has hydraulic lifters so the performance version motor would benefit from mechanical lifters.

I get that. My point is that ‘BUT’ makes it sound like louder is a bad thing and actually it should be ‘AND’ ... as in it has the additional benefit of being louder ;-)

it looks it will be a sort of 812/2 more than an 812 VS: it will replace 812S. This is what rumors say, with many upgrades (some very interesting and advanced) in style, engine and suspensions. I don't know if there will be the SF90/Roma new cockpit, but it looks logic to expect that. This is what comes up composing the various rumors.

I mean that differences between 812S and 812VS will be much more than the ones between F12 and F12 tdf

    Ciao

When you say will replace the 812.... Means it will not be limited?

Man you are hyping me!! I just got my 812....I finally did the first 1000km and streaching "her" a little bit and I'm blown away....I come from a 488GTB and the V12 is magnificent compared, can't immagine how it will be the 812VS reading your words. Can't wait!

The first hybrid model was the 599 hybrid machine, the layout of the front engine V12 means it’s quite easy to fit the hybrid system, 1000hp 812 would make up for extra weight, and in support of some of the last threads, agree that the wizards will find more power....but just seems the whole range will have to go hybrid at some point and if the machine is to be quite different, what more can they do other than showcase the future, I know it adds weight, but that hasn’t stopped the SF90 and LaFerrari being the most extreme fastest machines they have produced.

Yes it is natural to wonder exactly this, because the 812 is so amazing. BUT, we have been saying things like this since the Enzo (and likely before, but the Enzo is the progenitor for this engine line). I am sure they can find a way to make more power, but, what if they can get "only" 40 more HP- it could also be in the way the engine makes the power- how furious it revs, etc. So it could still be truly epic. We can debate style etc, but there is no debate that Ferrari is the engine master. I don't know anything about this car, but I have full confidence they will make the engine incredible.
