So we've seen the pics of the new model but so far barely a peep from owners about how this new model DRIVES, especially in comparison to other Ferrari's - and in particular to it's predecessor the F12.

Any 812 owners care to discuss their driving impressions? Handling, steering, sound, suspension versus other cars? Photographs and discussions of specs are nice but what is MOST interesting IMO is the drive. So far little if anything about actually driving these beasts!

    Anyone? Thanks in advance!

Either they are too busy driving them hard, or they dont like it and dont want to talk about how they wasted 400K$ ;)

Having driven one, I'd vote for the former. The car is mad!

I would love to help but 812's are trickling into UK.The largest dealer would only confirm 1 delivered so far when I asked last week.
I am expecting mine early 2019 but who knows !
I am having a go in my dealer's demo on Weds so will post a brief impression after that.

Deliveries in the US have been delayed for the most part outside of a few early cars so that might have a lot to do with it.

Agreed...my delivery looks like the fall now and even that may be questionable based on allocations not coming through.

I wonder if these delays will lead to a smaller number being built, assuming a fixed life span for the model?

Even here in Canada massive delays. Only 2 cars have come in so far, apparently some emissions part issue.

I know someone who swapped his 812 back for his old 488 with the dealer. 488 was quicker on the straight at his track - kept getting left by his friend.

Seems unlikely unless he was getting the gas and brake pedals mixed up. :) The tested performance numbers in a straight line favour the 812 by a good margin.

I know a few people with the 812. They all say its phenomenal and a noticeable step above the F12, as you would expect. In particular they tell me the car is more stable and less "darty" in certain high speed situations. They all are very impressed and happy with the 812. I am still not 100% sold on the styling but I think I will grow into it. That sometimes happens with me.

I'm sure that there will be some rave reviews once the cars trickle through to owners. I'm looking forward to mine, but I'm happy to be patient!

Having previously owned an F12 and a TdF (as well as a couple of other Ferrari V12s....), I have to say that the 'standard' F12 was a remarkable car. So if anyone wants to own a fantastic Ferrari V12 whilst trying to save a few pennies, then look for an F12 which is probably now considered to be obsolete (only 730bhp....!!).

I'll try and write something up over the Easter weekend - I've had mine for a bit over 2 months and I've put about 1,100km on her. What are my thoughts? Quite simply, it's extraordinary - anything that sounds this good could be forgiven for having many flaws.... but it just doesn't. Ferrari have hit this one out of the park!

Not really. The 812 is a few tenths only ahead in most increments, until you get into the highest bands, which don’t get reached on track. Add the 488’s likely balance/traction advantage out of a bend and you can see why the 488 might pull away. I remember doing pilota with F12s and 458s. The F12 is supposed to be significantly quicker around Fiorano but out of about 25 people, not a single one could go faster in the F12. Even the instructors acknowledged you had to be a professional to get the time from the F12 that was quoted, and only a few of them preferred the front over the mid engined car.

‘The corner before the straight is the most important because if you lose time there you pay for it all the way down the straight’ is commonly quoted by track instructors.

The 488 is much faster and easier to drive on the track than the 812.

The 812 is indeed a noticable step up from the F12. Less nervous and a bit more forgiving. The F12 perhaps feels a bit more 'dangerous' whilst the 812 is easier to drive.

Depends on the track really. The 812's extra power should make a difference on long straights (Monza, Mugello, Spa, Silverstone GP etc).

So drove my dealer’s demo today.
Weather not great so no real opportunity to play properly.
Initial impressions were that it is an easy car (a doddle in town)to drive and despite contrary assertions by some reviewers I think it will fulfil GT role brilliantly.
Car I drove had the carbon sports seats which at 6ft 3in I will spec as cabin felt much roomier than F12’s I have driven.
Sound is great but not intrusive in cabin.Could not have told you steering now has electrical assistance as it felt very similar to F12’s to me.
Performance is obviously great but as I said no real chance to explore it.
Was a bit surprised at length of travel in brake pedal before anything happened.I am sure I will get used to it and I had just jumped out of my Speciale so I guess part of my surprise was due to the contrast.
Overall very happy I have one coming !

Getting 812 and (after much soul searching am trading Speciale for Pista).
I like to drive my cars and realistically decided Speciale would not get used when Pista arrives.

I always thought that Giallo looked a bit naff in the UK - more suited to sunnier climes, such as the Cote d'Azur, where the colour can really glow in the sunshine.

However.....in pretty appalling UK conditions, that car looks good!
