Today, when I checked the 812SF availability, I was surprised to see only 37 available on autotrader (USA), for a while now it has been over 60 (I check a couple times a month).

Reason? Maybe 12c is not as desirable (certainly no reason to buy an 812 to get priority for an 12c build slot, right?) Maybe various disruptions of the 12c, haptics and screens for everything, silly popup wings, glass roof, lack of sound, design, etc.

Thoughts? Will 812SFs become even less available? Remember, fewer than 1200 812SF were made for USA.

Really, I like the sound of that. I knew it was only a matter of time before the 812SF would become more desirable since the 12ciliantro was introduced. The price delta alone from the two is enormous. This will certainly close the gap then.

Its more of a cycle, same happened a year ago (we were down to 25 at some point). There are many people who have to upgrade to 12 cilindiri to maintain their status. And as great as 812 sf is, some people just dont like it after owning one. Lastly the car market is on a downward spiral so perhaps people are waiting for things to look brighter again to sell. Its not only 812 sf market, GT3 market has been behaving the same way. Much less cars than before.

BAT had the most 812 auctions (both sf and gts) in any given 30-60 day period.

I know that what a dealer was paying for an 812sf in a trade is much lower now than a year ago. So perhaps when people see the lowball offer, they decide to keep their car. You hardly see anyone private listing an 812.

It’s the time of year. The car market is seasonally quiet in the winter, especially in the run up to Christmas and New Year.

Indeed, the price walk between the 812 and the 12C is enormous. Controlling for options, I would submit the delta to be around $250,000. For many people, they can have a decent 812 AND a decent F8 for nearly what it would cost to have only a 12C.

This argument of newer car cost so much that you can have the older car and another car for the price you pay for one doesnt really make much of a difference in these cars. Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo have done this for as long as I can remember and they have sold every single one of them and older cars kept depreciating more and more. There are exceptions to this like 997 GT cars or 458 speciale that truly appreciate (above msrp). I dont think there is anything that Ferrari produced in the last 7-8 years that would qualify.

What 12C can do however is it can save 812 from depreciating like SF90 or 296GTB. The last SF90 with 800 miles in BAT sold for $200,000 below msrp this week. Usually V12s depreciated horrendously and this time they depreciate more normally which is great.

Great...hopefully you find your unicorn. Let us know when you join the club...but I have a sneaking suspicion that may never happen. In the meantime, continue bashing and degrading the 812. Its entertaining.

I am not trying to be entertaining but I am glad you find it that way. Its not easy to find a used car to your liking. I must admit all but 1 sports car I purchased in the last 20 years have been used (and that one was a 1 owner 500 mile car). I am a very picky person.
