I really like my 82 308 and am contemplating buying a Quatro. is there a real noticeable difference in performance? I'm really happy with my present ride, It's in real nice condition with a little over 30k on the clock. I'm just wondering if it's worth it to sell mine and get a 4v......
Do you mean an 83/84/85 308QV? If so, I think you'll find a little more power and reliability with the QV compared to a 2V 80/81/82 model.
To me, I'd say that having a car that you know has got to be worth more than a similar car that you don't. Some criticize a Testarossa for the $25k differential cost but it's easy to find an old 308 that had a total of $25k worth of repairs/restoration performed. ex. steeering column, AC, bushings, etc. If you wanted to go to a 328 or a 348, I think that would be a worthwhile step up as long as you get a car with docs and all the extras, and as nice as the one you have. We're seeing Testarossa's and 348's priced in the mid to low 40k. Maybe one of those would be a good choice if your maintenance account is full.$$$
I have both a 2V inj. and a QV. I have owned many QVs and a Carb 308 also. I definately think it is worth the difference. I love my QV. The QV is my favorite 308 of all time. I bought my 2V to drive everyday but if I were to keep one it would be the QV hands down. Lots of little differences in the cars but they add up to one big difference when you are driving IMHO.
But everyone knows that if you want the TRUE 308 experience as conceived by Enzo, you need to go backwards to an early carb GTB!
had a 78 gts, had 2 early carb gtb's, and a gt4 before my current euro QV gtb. the only thing i miss is the extra sounds the carb car makes. thats it. and rather than replacing mine, i want to get a gt4 to have my carb car fix satisfied, and keep my QV. my QV is as fast, if not faster than a dry sump glass carb car. ( not that 308's are "fast", but you know what i mean) keep the 2v car and get a gt4 / gtb / gts carb car. its a great buyers market, and will be that way through the spring.
