    I have an 82 Mondial that has a knock in the engine (afraid it is a rod knock). 75K miles, and don't know what to do. This is just a driver, not a pristine show car. Any idea on the cost of an engine rebuild, or purchase of a used engine? Maybe it is just a pile of parts now.

    That's a hard call. Does the car have emotional value to you? There's a guy selling an 82 in Salt Lake City for 13K, maybe it's just time to swap cars.

    On the other hand, there's fewer Mondial 8s out there than F40s, so if you can ignore the money thing repair is the best option. Maybe you can open it up, repair just the damaged components, and avoid the while-you're-in-there syndrome.
