Anybody know anything about this car? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250591048969&_trksid=p2759.l1259 Mileage is really low which worries me. Asked the seller if I bid on the car the bid would be submject to PPI. Thanks for any feedback. Shashi
Wow! that's the lowest mileage I've seen on a 308. It sure is almost perfect but but very very scary.
I think this is the third or fourth time that car has come up on eBay, and the third or fourth time it's been discussed here!
No worry, it's easier to find a high mileage car and asking price for high milage car is usually lower.
It sure looks like theres a ton of wear on the drivers side seat......at least in the pics it looks like wear.
i bought my 83 gtb qv w/ 4100 miles on it. i bought it from eddie karam and it was BRAND NEW. i had no issues sans the brake caliper rebuilds. the wear on the driver seat bolster does look odd. that said, if anyone is really interested in this car i suspect that werner phister @ miller motorcars wou;d have info. pcb
I saw this one that had 29xx kilometers on it (1800miles or so by my rough estimation). It is a Euro GTBi. The car had sat and sat for years with little regard to anything on it. It was garaged, but in the sunlight, which didnt do anything for the leather at all. The car was in absolutely horrible shape. The guy wanted 40k for it, but I figured that car needed another 20k to get back into somewhat decent shape. Even the interior was pretty ratted out. Photos attached. I agree with you, but you see the odo and you see most of what I saw when I looked at it. The guy I spoke with insisted that it was that low. I didnt buy it either, but I certainly wasnt going to spend $40k on it (25k Euro). It needed a LOT of work. PDG
If you want a 308, and not a 328, I would look for an '84-'85, and get one that has been driven a bit. (IMHO, 20K-30K miles is a sweet spot for price and use.) If you're serious about getting a high end 308/328, I think you should also do more than surf eBay. You need to see these cars in person, unless you really trust the dealer selling it. Odometer premiums are usually a waste of money, unless you plan to drain the fluids and park it in a museum. Odometer readings are the most idiotic part of the whole Ferrari experience, but they're a fact of life because engine rebuilds on these cars are a big chunk of their total value. And you will feel guilty every time you take it for a spin.
