I've replaced the plugs about two weeks ago because of misfiring. The car ran great there-after and no misfiring. Problem solved, right! Today, I had a ½ a tank of gas so I filled up with Shell 93. Coming home after about 12 miles of driving, I noticed a sudden misfire and then once I arrived in my garage she stalls. I couldn't get the car restarted, she would turn over but that’s about it. I went out a few hours later and check all my wires. I noticed one wire not in all the way so I pushed it down. Tried again and she started right up. I let the car run a bit but the smell of the exhaust was so bad and it started to burn my eyes. Any suggestion?? One more thing when it’s warm out, (this happened a few times) the car would just cut out. I‘ll be doing 70MPH and down she goes, radio and all. I would wait a few minutes, then the car would start but other times I would wait a half hour or more. What could cause this? Thanks for your help.

Check both coil wires, coils and your flywheel sensors. Sounds like your loosing an entire bank.

I also noticed this morning the battery light stays on until I rev it and then shuts off. What does this mean?

Coil wires are good and fly wheel sensor is buzzing.

My 328 has done that for the 21 years of ownership. My understanding is that they are supposed to do that. A rev up to about 2500 gets mine to shut off. I do not know the technical reason for it. It is unlike other vehicles.

Just wonder what you mean by buzzing. I have a misfire too and after replacing all extenders/plugs/wires i'm looking to the sensors next. how do you test this?

Check the digiplex grounds and add new ones to the rear mounts of the digiplex mounting brackets.

Thank you for your post. So I don't have another issue on top of the others.

Climb: I just listen for it. It's difficult to explain over email, it just buzzes.

    I see..thanks.

Mine works great 'till the car gets warm then starts sputtering in the 3-4k rpm range but pulls fine before it's fully warm. I'm wondering if my sensors cut out when they get hot.

Have you changed/checked the little carbon tips in the distributor and the springs underneath? One of my springs was rusted so bad it fell apart in my hand.

In that the radio dies as well, I would suspect a ground issue or an ignition switch / circuit problem. Also, if you have an alarm system, bypass it until all issues are resolved.

PCosta, I suspect you have a partially melted fuse box - very common problem on a Mondial. Perhaps the fuel pump isn't getting power or something similar. I'd definitely take a very close look at the fuse box and all the connections.

The flywheel sensors don't buzz. You check the resistance on them to test them. Frequency valves buzz.
