It looks like that auction took place on 11 December 2011; and among the details shoehorned into the single paragraph, is this: "This particular Ferrari F40 was involved in a heavy front-end accident, following which its owner, Vittorio Colombo, commissioned the celebrated Ferrari competition specialists Michelotto of Padova for a full restoration."
Apparently using a brand new chassis, so I'd say quite shrewd buying back then, for someone wanting a long term keeper.
