    Hi Guys,

I bought what I thought was my "keeper" 85' 308 a few years ago, (pictured below) the banners in the showroom garage at the house in place before the cars were even bought. The car turned out not to be "original" as sold to me (as in paint) so I traded it in to a local dealer. After years of searching I have found and purchased what I have been looking for (pictures to follow in the next few days as the car is in transit) I have owned 7 Lambos and now make it 2 Ferraris. I would like to show it at Cavallino next year and would like to know who here are the guys in the know on what is and is not 100% correct for an 85' 308 so I may pre check my car before the show.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tony

Foam on the radiator looks aftermarket.

Posting a wide aray of high quality closeup photos will help. I have a '84 QV that just scored 99 points at the FCA LA Concours so I can at least comment on that which I have learned.

    Thank you,

I have seen black and silver or raw aluminum grills under the bumper in front of the air horns.

    Which is correct?

+1 on the foam. During judging a considerable time is spent reviewing the engine compartment. Post some pics . From the outside looks proper, at least in photos.

Is it missing a section of rubber?

No rubber, just wrong color and probably not the correct open cell foam. Also it has been applied wrong, it just not wrap over the edge of the bonnet. You can order the correct two pieces from Ricambi, you will get sticker shock.

Profile of the foam is incorrect and the color should be gray. Look at #9 and #24 in the parts view.

I have a 85 308qv and I have the same foam since that is what is avilable no points lost,I"ve been scoring about 95.5-97.0 depending on the judge,I will tell you in the engine compartment is where they spend alot of time. they look at hose's,clamps, paint on pedulum for chips and stickers are in place. the person you really want to ask is rifledriver he's a cheif judge and very knowable

Turns green / brown with age and eventually odopts the shape of the radiator top tank. What he has is exactly what I would expect the 1985 foam to look like.

The piece you are speaking of is the seal for the spare tire area. It is the correct foam. It changes that way from age. It was not well positioned but that degree of sloppyness was not uncommon on the cars new.

Thats how they look new, not after being crushed against the radiator top tank for 24 years.

I would leave the foam. It is original. The new foam from Ferrari is not manufactured the same.

Your car can only be original once.

post some pictures of that jalpa. I have been hunting for a jalpa for some time, and was close to buying this (non-running) jalpa, but decided it was nuts. I really want a jalpa, if you get a spare minute send me a PM about your experience.

I believe that is actually a Silhouette, and not a Jalpa. The Silhouette was made in the late 70s, and only about 52 were made.

    Best regards,
    Dino

Correct, that was my Silhouette. I sold it about two years ago, great car, very rare.

I have first right to buy it back and think I will in a few years when the current owner moves on.

    Thank you Brian.

I was hoping that might be the case.

I have done the Concours thing for years and I'm quite done with it, but would like to know if anything is incorrect.

I'm not looking to do anything but have a good time at Cavallino, I just don't want any surprises like "what's that on your car"

The car will be here Tuesday and I'll get more pictures up.

    Thanks again,
    Tony

    Tony,

I have and 83 Euro with the brown leather dash option. I have a question about the carpets. My carpets are sewn together, not in sections as in your car. Do you know if there were differences in carpets for the 308s?

    Thanks,

    James
