These cars and pictures are really quite something and look really magnificent. I have a question, I supply glass crystals as replacements for the plastic faces on the clocks. Would these cost a point in competition or would they be allowed?

Honestly, I seriously doubt they would notice.

Thank you I wasn't sure if I should mention a caveat when selling these as replacements.

I'm on the lookout for the 7 pan head screws the fiberglass spare tire tray. I got dinged this past weekend for not having all 7 screws matching (apparently 2 original and the rest are stainless replacements). I can't find these anywhere... so if anyone has a lead on some original style ones with the slight golden anodization color please let me know. 1985 QV.

PS: I'm also going to try my local HW store to see just how close I can get.

    Nice looking car !

Interesting to see again all the differences between EURO and US versions (I had 3 euro QV gts cars previously).

Seems like the rear window defrost switch and indicator in US are where we would have the rear foglight switch and indicator.

Do judges also check for Schedoni luggage ?

    Cheers,

It is interesting to read that the judges said that the originals had yellow zinc plating. I had never seen that before and had only seen plain steel screws.

My cover had been pop riveted in place when I got the car. I replaced the pop rivets with plain sheet metal screws (with a head type like you show in your photo). I ran the screws through the dishwasher first a few times to age them a bit. I did not get a deduction for the screws at 2016 Concorso Italiano (98 points).

It may be that the judges were reacting more to lack of uniformity than to the actual screw type. Likewise, judges seem to mentally note minor flaws and then point to one thing as "the" reason for a deduction.

Thanks for the insight, Brian. I suspected similarly that it was the lack of uniformity that drew their attention. Sounds like my plan to get new pan head sheet metal screws at my local HW store might be the way to go.
Two of the judges did debate for a few minutes which one is 'original and correct'. As with most items being judged, if it doesn't stand out it probably won't get noticed.

You could always send them to a plater.
