I'm looking into buying a 308 QV or Carb and this is the first one that I have found locally. Any help would be appreciated I also posted this in the mid-atlantic fourm as well... Thanks, Nick
There a some nice QV's available here from Fchat. Just expand your area and for a $150 flight and a day drive, you can get a nice car. here is local one in Louisville. It is a nice car and I saw it yesterday at Cars and Coffee. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278130 The "reserve not met" price on the car you posted is probably within the range that this car can be had for.
I'm open to most anywhere in the country (missed out on Impactco's Euro QV - still kicking myself for not moving faster!). But the one I posted just happened to be the first one I've seen locally for sale.
A number of years ago, I saw THIS 308 in question - in person. I'm guessing it was around 2001 or so. At the time, I was considering buying it and had a PPI done on it. It was for sale at an independent dealer on Long Island NY. I'm pretty sure it's the same car as the ebay listing because I remember the VIN # and the fact that it has chocolate colored seats with red piping. I may still have my notes that I took when I went to look at the car back then. I can try to dig them up if you want them. The problems I recall included multiple golf ball sized dents ALL over the body. Not deep dents, but there were many of them. Might have been from hail - I don't know. Also, there was a hole in the sheetmetal at the rear fender - from a cell antenna that someone removed and later plugged. Engine wasn't bad, but there was a slight misfire at high rpms. A few other things were on the list and when I went back to the seller, I asked for him to either fix them or reduce his price. He said no to both. I walked away - happy in knowing that it was the right decision under the circumstances - but sad in that my dream car would not be coming home with me. Based on the current photos, it looks like someone has fixed the body damage - looks good based on what is visible here. But obviously you would need to see it in person to know how well it was fixed. And have a look at it in the daytime with good lighting - I didn't see the dents until the car was out in the sunshine. (Seller didn't mention them initially). Asking price seems a bit high, but I presume it's due to the "low" miles. It could be a good deal if the last owners fixed what it needed. DEFINITELY get a PPI on this one if you are considering it.
NICK --- You do realize those seats are BROWN not black, right?! To each his own, I guess, but it looks awful to me --- especially with the red piping.
