85 308 QV won't fire

    Just boought a 85 Qv car drove it three times and went to start yesterday and the moter just turns over. It won't fire. it is geting fuel can smell it but won't start. Any suggestions on what to look for or where to start

    Make sure the fuel pump runs. Do a search. You undo one blue plug near the fuel distributor to check it.

    If you can smell fuel then it must be ignition.

    The QV has two seperate ignition systems with two ignition boxes. i can only think of one common part that would take the whole thing down & that's the RPM crank sensor.

    There are three sensors, a TDC sensor for each bank & then the RPM sensor. Stick a multimeter across them to measure the resistance & you should see somewhere around 700 ohms (600-1000 is the range). Open circuit & its dead.
