    When my car is running hot or cold there is a rattle sound that comes and goes. Sometimes it’s there and sometimes you hear nothing. AC belt is off the car so it’s not that. Sounds like top end. Comes and goes. Weird. Let me know if you may no what it is. Drove the car to my house after it sat at my friends for a few months and it sounded smooth and perfect. Not sure what could cause it to be so off and on. Thanks everyone!!

    Could be a faulty water pump bearing. Wait until the rattle shows up and probe with a stethoscope.

    I spun the pump by hand is felt fine. Turned nice and smooth. Weird

    Remove the belts..run the car..but for obvious reasons..not for too long. If the noise continues..without either the alternator or waterpump turning..you can pretty much be sure neither of those are the culprit.

    You may have the dreaded cam drive bearing failure..
