but it really isn't a deal if it needs a rebuild. probably will have a 20-25K into the rebuild and "while we're at it" items, for a total of $45-50K. without records and 40K miles, it's not a screaming deal. but at least it will be a reliable runner that isn't going to depreciate more. for me, that's a great position to be in with a ferrari.

A rebuild should not cost anywhere near $25k.

I looked at that car on ebay, the sellers name was Jim. He told me he was getting a compression check but I never heard back from him. The reserve on ebay was 28,000. Last I looked, the bidding was at 33,100 when the auction closed.

well the engine alone could run $15K, and i think another $5k at least is realistic for other repair/preventive maintenance. if the car needs an engine rebuild after just 40K miles, it's probably not the only thing it needs. just my opinion.

I think $15K for engine/gearbox is closer to the mark.

Then maybe $10K for the christening party, the bottle of champagne, and the bodywork after you slam the champagne bottle against the front bonnet.

I saw results posted on e-bay. Looked pretty good accross the board (numbers between 112 and 120). Remember, it's more about the consistancy that the numbers themselves.

The numbers I see are between 120 and 128. If this is true, why would the engine need a rebuild? Just asking. Thanks.
