    Hi guys,

The horn on my TR has given up the ghost. When the main dealer done a PPI on the car recently, he commented that its is not working. When you press the horn you can hear a click, but no noise.

Does anyone know the make of this or can I put any compressor on (within reason of course)

    Thanks

    Peter

Peter IIRC it is a Fiamme, not sure of the spelling.

Cheers Phil, do you know if its pricey? Eurospares are listed POA. Horn compressor "kits" seem to vary in price.

    Dear Ferraristi,

If you open your front hood, you will see the compressor and the horns in the front section between the front trunk and just behind the front grill.

It is a Fiamm unit but slightly larger than the aftermarket Fiamm unit. If you don't want to pay the F pimp OEM unit, you can buy Fiam "air horn" kits at any auto parts store. Just keep your same horns and replace the compressor.

Before you change things out, pull the compressor, and dump some penetrating oil inside it. I find since they don't get used much, they corrode and stick. Basically the compressor is just a little turning pump. Leave the oil in there for a day or so, and then try connecting to a 12 volt source. Put a rag on the outlet as if it turns, it will spray oil all over the place.

If you do this outside the car, while you are connecting the 12 volt source, if it still doesn't turn, tap the body while connected. It may release and work.

If you feel adventurous, you can always disassemble the unit.
