Hi everyone searching for a testarossa 86 to late 88 model. Will only consider red with tan trim.Log books with service history in good condition. My budget is only about $45000 might be able to stretch a little bit more.Have seen them out there for that price but they don't last long.Hoping to find 1 close to California but will consider anywhere.
A nice one (clean/records/recent service, etc.) in the $45K range will require serious diligence and or luck. Add another $10-15K and you will start to be in the current market ballpark for a good one. There is a sweet 86 Red/Tan TR for $60 here. Very nice car. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/430730-86-testarossa-original-2-owner-car.html Pretty sweet 348 listed yesterday in your color choice and price range. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/434048-1992-ferrari-348tb.html Good luck!
No affiliation to either vehicle, just been keeping tabs on the Testarossa market out of personal interest: 1987 Ferrari Testarossa Coupe for sale | Hemmings Motor News 1987 Ferrari Testarossa for sale | Hemmings Motor News Good luck in your search
Thanks Blue myridden just sent a email to both.I think the one in NY looks like its had a hard life but will see where it takes me.The TR for 60k on here is beautiful but a bit out of my price range. If anyone can come up with anymore TR.s I would appreciate it.
I've been in the market for a Testarossa for more than a year and I'm not sure what you're looking for is realistic. $45K yes but not in good condition with all books and history records. There was a heck of a deal that I passed on but a Fchatter here Grabbed it and is happy with his purchase but they don't come by very often. The one I purchased is the best and cleanest I found in my price range and I paid a bit over $50K cdn. All books and Tools in super nice condition but no service records. GL with your search. The car in NY is not clean. The undercarriage is very dirty. Ask for their pictures. Their price is also firm from what they told me.
Check out the middle tail lite on the one from Gullwing. It is not a US model. That may be OK by you but you should be aware it.
There is one for sale here in Canada by a Fchatter. 1990 red on tan, 42,000 miles, books and jack kit no tools. I saw the car and test drove it. Very nice owner with nothing to hide from what I've seen. Asking $49K cdn.
Thanks godabitibi don't know who he would be.Could probably stretch to 48k or maybe 50k if I get rid of the wife.
Has anyone seen in the flesh or driven the car at gullwing Astoria New York or also waylands2go.I am a mechanic having done belts before on the testarossa so major service doesn't worry me as long as interior is good and it has obviously had coolant and oil changes. In other words want it in good condition as I can do the maintenance and paintwork. But I don't want to pay 45k on a dog.Rather pay a bit more on something 70% there.Sorry I am not local but looking at exporting to Australia so any help you guys can give me I would appreciate it
You can buy that car here for $45K USD. If you want pics give me your email address. Have you got the picture package from Gullwing? You should ask for them.
Ok, I asked the owner and he gave me green light for you. So here is what I have. If you look closely the driver side qtr panel paint does not match. There are some little dents on the car. Car runs great and drive great too. He had transmission or clutch issues but they are fixed. There is also a new crown and pinion in it. Everything seem to work even the A/C. Tubi exhaust. Here are some more from the interior. It present very well. No bad worn on the seat. The driver side mat is a little stained. Mouse track belts have been modified with regular reel harness. It has the Dave Helm repair kit on the fuse box. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are the last ones. The window sticker. Like I said I know you can get it for $45k USD. The car shouldn't be hard to import to USA as it was a US car sold new in Colorado. Let me know if you want his contact info. I'LL try the Autocheck and videoclip. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The owner is a very nice guy that has nothing to hide. He told me everything he had with the car. He is a DIY guy and did it all himself. He also own a 308GTS and he has a lift at home if you want to look underneat. I think I did my best to help you find a car exactly like you want. Now good luck with your search. ;-) I forgot, engine out service is less that 2 years old IIRC. Belts and tensionners and valves adjusted he told me.
Better keep her! From my experience she can cost much more than the TR if she goes. And a lot more troubles.
Have you think about looking for a flooded one on Copart. Linas did good with his from his comments. If you can do the work it's a matter of labour but no big cost.
I have a deal for you. My 1986 Testarossa is Rossa Corsa exterior with tan interior. 72,000 miles. I have owned this TR since 2006. Transmission replaced and differential upgraded to one piece housing at 60,000 miles (making this a 'bullet proof' example of the early TR). Service done by Ferrari of Central Florida as well as SpeedWorks of Osteen FL. X-OST and HyperFlow cats added (original exhaust still available). Some wear on drivers side bolster. Recently replace front spoiler. Photos available in my profile album. Next major service due in May. Contact me through PM for more info.
Hi Jason, I understand that it needs to be prior to 1st Jan 89 to import into Australia with going through the whole compliance procedure: Vehicles Manufactured Before 1989 Option Left hand drive cars are worth a lot less over here (hence resale value later would be a lot less), especially when you consider the additional cost you will have adding shipping, taxes, etc. There is a cheap RHD TR on carsales at the moment (no idea what it is like, but it actually sounds too cheap).
