Hi all, new 328 owner and trying to take care of some issues. The wiring to my antenna switch has been cut at some point to have bypass the switch and have the antenna go up when the radio is turned on. I plan to replace the old radio and will mostly use Bluetooth for entertainment. I don’t want the antenna going up when I don’t need it thus I want to re-hookup the switch. The plug end is gone. I realize I could just use individual connectors but that’s just not me. So first does anyone have the wiring with plug? If not, can someone provide a color pic of the wiring going into the connector? I do have the wiring diagram but like to see a real pic. Thanks in advance. Absolutely love the car!

I do not have a picture. You are lucky you have the diagram. By the way a guide for translating the color codes is in there near the front.

Best I can do is tell you at one end is a large White/ Red wire. next is a small White/ Blue wire.. In the middle is a large Black wire. Next is a medium size White/Red wire and last is a Gray wire.

If I remember the plug correctly it will be difficult to find. It is not a common OTC generic plug.

Good luck with the car. They are great cars, we have one too.

Thanks for the reply. The wiring layout isn’t the same as a pic I found. See attached. It looks like white with red stripe are on both ends, grey in middle with black and blue on either side.

One thing you have to watch for, is if you don't have the original antenna (had this issue with my 400i):

The switch (at least on the 400i) "delivers" +12V to one cable in one direction, and +12V to another cable in the other direction. This causes the original antenna to up and down.
However, modern antennas are wired differently: when +12V and ground are applied, the antenna retracts. When additionally another +12V is applied to another terminal, the antenna goes up.

    Cheers

A radio activated antenna is not factory and the wiring will not work from the switch. While appreciate the desire to be totally original, I would recommend using a hidden switch to interrupt the radio antenna activation. A small rocker switch hidden under the dash would work. Turn the switch to off and the antenna stays down. On and it cycles with the radio. Just a thought. As the radio gives a constant signal to the modern antenna to go up and stay and removes the signal to retract, you will not be able to control that with a factory switch.

I did just that though, using a simple "circuit" with a relay. I'll post the diagram when I find it!

You are correct, it can be done but you have to make a "circuit" to get it done. You just can't wire the switch to control the antenna.
