All, I searched for this, but came up empty. Does anyone have any advice/experience with removing the riveted-on water diverter panel on the underside of the 328 engine cover? Table 109, item number 30, part number 60277407. Mine is *really* rough, nearly all of the paint has flaked off (especially on the top side), and I don't see an easy way to restore it without removal. Didn't want to go drilling out rivets before first asking the experts. I hate to disqualify the obvious first answer everyone is going to suggest, but no, there is no body shop within a 2 or 3 hour drive (by trailer) that I would even remotely trust to do it. Unless someone can make a recommendation in Charleston, SC (Karl knows my car and has said several times he simply doesn't have time for paint and body, and I completely understand). Thanks! -Matt Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
It looks a not too difficult job since only rivets that are all accessible need to be removed (indeed by drilling them out). I did not do this job however since my panel is o.k. and it is surprising that the black coating is flaked off. success, Menno
Somebody on this site posted a few years back about this and how he did it. Try doing a search and see what you can find. I seem to recall there were pics and step by step. I do know that he drilled out the rivets and if I remember right - which I may not - it wasn't that difficult.
