another raging debate question: does anyone know the correct sizes for the front and rear caliper speedbleeders on the 328? when i searched old threads, i must have missed them. also are they truly as effective as the pneumatic fluid changers? thanks
I have them on my Lotus and I like them. I do the old "pump the pedal" method and I do have someone else so I can watch the bubbles, but in a pinch you can bleed them by yourself. They do speed up the job but then I can do all 4 wheels in 15 minutes without them, so it's not a big deal. Do you lose points at a show with them? Ken
I don't know if they are the same for your car but here is the size for my 308. FRONTs is SB8125LL (8mm x 1.25 ) and the part number for the REARs is SB7100 (7mm x 1.0)
wow! i'm impressed with all the accolades on speedbleeders we have no response from the community on those souls who fitted their 328's with them. maybe only the enlightened few from the 308 ranks have chosen to use them.
Bill. sorry I put them on my 308 so long ago I don't remember the sizes but when I talked to the folks at Speed Bleeders they said that they were going to build a data base. The tronts were 1mm larger than the rear if I remember correctly.
I have a set that went on my 348. If you want to try them you are welcome to. I used them once and really did not like them because I am such a paranoid I did not think they would bleed as well as the two man method. Just my opinion. Vette and porsche guys swear by them. [email protected]
i appreciate the help. but how do you order and get the correct size?. i e-mailed speedbleeder and got no reply from them. not very confidence inspiring. i'd like to do biz with them, but until i establish the correct size / part #, no dice. how did you all accomplish this task? tnx.
i checked with speedbleeder today and they do not have a listing for the 328. so i checked the parts manual for the 308 and 328 to compare part # and as luck would have it there is no bleeder part # listed as they only reference ate, the caliper supplier. since the models used different calipers, i suspect the bleeders are different as well. rats, i'm right back to square 1. i would really appreciate some help. thanks in advance.
Well Bill it looks like you need to do it the old fashion way , like I did. You'll need to pull the bleeder from 1 rear and 1 front caliper and take it to your local auto parts place and find out the size. Also some of the auto parts places carry speedbleeders so you can get them there. The method I did was go to my local parts guy and bought a few different bleeder nipples and took them home. Stock nipples are cheap so when I got the right size I called the Speedbleeder folks and ordered the ones I needed. They also have listed the ones I had used as their 308 replacements. I did this years ago so now you will have the pleasure of being the 1st 328 for the database. They work great and I just did a total fluid change last week. Took me 20 mins. but I have a lift so it is pretty easy to do. Good luck
