Hello everyone, I in the market for a 328. Found this listing on ebay, but noticed that the side signal lights are unuasual. I asked the seller if its a custom job. He said 'no'. Can anyone comment on why this lights are different from other 328's. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1987-FERRARI-328-GTS-COUPE-3-DAYS-AUCTION-BID-NOW_W0QQitemZ120058386511QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks, tonosi
It's not "custom" in the sense of being a special one-off, but that single round side marker is used on the standard ("euro")version 328 (rather than the front and rear rectangular ones on a US version). Since the roof panel and roof spoiler are painted body color (again not typical for US version), I'd guess that some previous owner also did the bodywork to change the side marker lights.
Ah 66301 That thing has been on Ebay for years now. According to past auctions it's had a recent major. For some reason people keep shying away from it, and it just bounces from dealer to dealer. See prior discussion (from a year ago!) at http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87590
One point to clarify; The round lamps are turn signal repeaters, not sidemarkers. They are dark except when the turn signals are on. On the U.S. cars, the sidemarkers are just sideways parking lights. Image Unavailable, Please Login
True, true. I got sick of seeing it. The first 4 times it ran, my interest was piqued, contacted the seller (perhaps 3 dealers hence) who told me it was U.S, not Euro, but the previous owner added the Euro lights. Car is - as I recall - a total repaint, so sometime around then the Euro lights were drilled in. Couldn't tell me whether the seats had been redyed. Belt service was spread over multiple reciepts. Thus the vaguries, multi-light arrangement (I'd take either, but not both) and pranged up rear valance gave me pause. Apparently to many others, who - as mentioned - have played automotive hot potato with this one. Would require even more dilligent and thorough investigation regardless.
