Started up my Biturbo yesterday with no problem, Idling nicely as always. Went to accelerate but would only go up to 2800 rpm and then fall back to idle backfiring all the way. All the engine sensors are connected and no visible problems anywhere. Car was running great when parked. What ever is wrong it happened sitting in the garage. Suspect maybe the injection ECU but really don't have a clue. Anyone out there with an idea what might wrong I sure would appreciate your input. Thanks much

Usually when the engine can’t take high revs, it is the crank sensor that will not get the signal to the ecu because it is to far away to the points passing it when the pulley turn around. You can adjust with the amount of shims on the sensor. Just be careful, not to change its position as the two screws loose will allow it to move sideways, changing the timing. But the shims adjust its height. Or it can also be the distributor. Take off the cap and look for corrotion on the points inside.
