First and foremost I'd like to applaud the contributors to this forum. Prior to purchasing my first Cavallino, I spent a great deal of time reading the comments and discussions shared by members and it proved invaluable throughout the process. Bravo, and I hope to do my part in the coming years.

With the expertise of my dad, I just finalized the purchase of a beautiful 1987 Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet and am thrilled. Unfortunately we don't have much history on her prior to 1999, and I'm hoping to change that. According to CarFax and AutoCheck I am the fourth owner. Early smog reports suggest it was a Southern CA car in its youth, making its way east to Carmel/Noblesville, Indiana in March of 1997, and then on to the Great State of Ohio (Perrysburg) with the previous owner (and family friend) in April of 1999. Fortunately we're able to piece together the past 10 years, but everything prior to is unknown. I'm very interested to know any original or subsequent owner history, and if this is an original California car since I'll be bringing it out to the SF Bay Area in late September (i.e. it will need a SMOG prior to full registration).

    VIN: ZFFXC26A0H0073691

Thanks for any help, and happy to join such an esteemed lot. Cheers

(You'll note the missing hub cap on the rear passenger wheel - it just so happened my dad had a new set of four in the garage still in the Ferrari package. Classic)

I knew that car when in Carmel, In. Mel Ward, a Century 21 commercial realtor had it. If you can track that name down he may have more intel. (He's moved so I lost contact)
I drove it in the late 90s when I was shopping for a Mondial. Nice car. He had records about 4" thick from day one, so he's your guy for info prior to 1999. Good luck!

I also noticed in the dumpster that you bought your wife a new vacuum cleaner the same time you bought yourself a Ferrari. Gutsy move... ;)

I know nothing of the car, but I live in Toledo now, of which Perrysburg is a suburb. If I can help you with anything, let me know. :)

Accordingly, the vaccuum features a turbo-charged vortex turbine head, carbon-fiber filtration and tubi-dustbag. The vaccuum idles a bit higher than the Mondial, but all things considered my wife didn't make out too bad in this situation...

Joking aside, thanks for the comments SMS. It's great to hear you took her for a spin a few years back. Cosmetically she's virtually flawless, and likely looks almost as she did in the 90s (save a few touch up areas). The test-drive was flawless as well, but we didn't open it up on the freeway yet before it gets an inspection from sitting for the better part of a year. If I manage to track down Mel I'll send him your way.

Congrats James, you're going to love your Mondi cab there. Nice looking car.

Regarding CA smog, if the car is in decent tune you shouldn't have much trouble. The mondi 3.2/328 engine is a really clean running engine when maintained. I actually took the cat off mine and she still easily passes the sniff test (less than one half the limits). Of course, in CA the visual test might be a prob w/o the cat. In any case, enjoy!

That was actually his wife throwing the vacuum away, box and all, .....having hired the Daily Maid service.......

    Mine did that...true fact!!!

    Looks good!

The original Warranty Book if present is completed by the original Dealership, with owner info filled in.....in the Factory Pouch...looks like you have a lead on the Service Records, if he retained them, odd they didn't go with the Sale tho.....

I was to get the records with the car of course, so it would have been odd that Mel kept them. He sold the car to Ohio if I recall so your friend should have gotten them, unless of course there was a short term owner in Ohio between them. Mel might have a name he sold it to.
Also, join the Ferrarimarketletter and they will likely have for you a number of archived ads, service notes, etc... for each time that VIN was found in print over the years. They have been great tracking down various Ferrari histories for us.

That's a Homelight weed eater box.

I have the same one in my garage.

The wife must have said if he got a toy, he had to do some damn yard work. :D

Congrats on your car. She is a beaut.

    Hi James,

In March 1991, your car was advertised as follows:

    Miller Infinity, CA/USA
    Dealer´s personal car / 9,435 mls / $85,000 / grey/tan

I also have the name of the Ohio owner (Mr. Michael K.), but I think you already have it yourself, judging from your message, right?

    Ciao,

    Lars T.
