Screws and pins!! A new socket too? What the heck were you doing to cause that?
Afternoon Brian. Thanks for the info. Now if I can only figure out how to get the tunnel off and have a look at that thing. How about if the first thing to do is remove rt seat?
Start with both seats. If you want complete inst. call me with a couple of pencils at the ready, I don't really want to type it all out.
Parachute Landing Fall. Didn't anybody tell you not to jump out of perfectly good airplanes. I know, it was back when you were doing that secret government stuff....................................................... Or were you part of the Penguin Liberation Front?
Thanks Brian. Think I'm going to give this a lot of thought before 'jumping into an unknown area'. One thing doing this in the hanger where I have some help....Up here, no one. Especially with sparky stuff.
Thanks very much for the information Brian -- it has the same problem as the euro TR set-up with the AC compressor relay and the power transistor emitter being controlled (grounded) together (or not) so by making wiring mods only at the AC pushbutton unit it is only possible to get option 1 or option 3. On the later US TR, the power transistor emitter is just always connected to ground so you can get option 2 (with wiring mods only at the AC pushbutton unit).
I would be more than happy with just option 1, but it dosnt look possible wo getting into the ac unit itself. Thanks Brian & Steve for the help.
steve -- You are mis-interpretting what I said. By adding a SPST switch (with a high current rating) into both GV wire(s) at the AC Pushbutton unit you can have option 1 (SPST switch open) or option 3 (SPST switch closed) -- do you need a wiring sketch? Only having option 2 requires making a wiring change at the AC unit itself for your TR.
Let me try that again Steve; The first option, 1 and 3 without getting into ac unit is my preference. Brian; my WSM makes it APPEAR fairly easy to remove climitization pannel wo removing seats or console. All by removing rt side floor stuff and a few upper console rt side screws and pushing pannel up and out after disconecting vaccum line. Does this sound kosher to you?
Understood I think you don't even need to unhook the vacuum lines nor take the right side panels off (although that may make things easier) -- just remove the fastener by the shift gate and the tray to the rear of the switch panel, and pull (or push) the switch panel up enough to get to the GV wires on the AC pushbutton unit (I think that there's enough slack in the wires and vacuum hoses). The tricky part is not damaging the skin of the leather on the vertical sides of the center console above the switch panel -- the edge of the panel can be very sharp. Once you get the tray out IIRC there is some sort of "flexing" action that you need to take to the back edge of the switch panel (but it's been so long that I've lost the exact details from my mind ). Good luck -- give a shout if something comes up. PS Rather than mounting the added SPST switch into the switch panel, I prefer to keep it under the RH front seat just at the ends of a cable extended out from under the center console -- just a thought if the SPST switch lever doesn't "match" the existing switches well. Steves right, if all you are going in for is the AC mod leave the seats in and just lift out the console panel.
Thanks Brian. Sure hope I dont screw the pooch. BTW, do you want a poster of this print of the start of Sat bronze race? Have 2 sizes...20x30 and 16x24. Look good on the shop wall. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You bet, I'll take a big one. Good view of the "Cat", one of my favorite airplanes. Bunch of other good looking airplanes there too. I'd like to get a head on of the Cat going around a pylon. Do you know if such exists? Or where to find? In a head on you can see why they were so bloody fast. 70% of the frontal area was R2800 X 2.
Only one I found on mustangsmustangs.com site. Get the other on its way next week. Image Unavailable, Please Login
HECK YEAH I'll take a poster! A 20 x 30 would look great in my shop (when ever I get it done ) That's a classic shot..................what ever you have left, beggars can't be choosy! Thanks, DJ BTW, the mistress is looking good in that shot.
Ya know what Forrest Forrest said; Pretty is as pretty does. I think he said that. Poster on the way Monday....or perhaps Tuesday.
Unlike the twenty to a pack of butts and some idiot asks "do you have an EXTRA ciggy"? (No, they only came with twenty). If you have one or more available, may I have one too? Cheers, Hank
