Does anyone know where I can purchase the 1-6 and 7-12 slow down warning light ECU's for my 87 TR? Thanks.

Those things are insanly expensive. The last price I got was 700USD, and that was 2 years ago. From what I understand the price has gone up over a thousand USD for one unit. I haven't called to confirm this as of yet.

i would try a couple of places for used units. T Rutlands may have some 1-800-233-7820
GT car parts may also be able to help you..sorry I don't have there number memorized!
Dennis Mcann(sp?) is another guy to try..he has lots of used parts aswell.
Other then that, the dealer is your only other option

The price has gone up lots, Ferrari is very proud of them.

They all work the same despite the different look and connections.
I have adapted several early cars over to the late units. It is really quite simple.

Find one of the cheaper ones like for a 355.

Since the replacements for my 87 are $1900EACH adapting a later cheaper version sounds a lot better. I'm interested in the adaption process; is it beyond the scope of an amateur or is it a shop job? I think Rifledriver's shop is a good 2.5 hour one way trip, so I would rather try to DIY with help from a pro mechanic/electrician friend in my area. Rifledriver, you can post or PM reply if you choose.

I have done it with 355 and late TR ECU's but go to your favorite Ferrari parts guy and price shop. Since you have no way to test for temp thresholds you may want to stick with period pieces like later TR or 348 pieces.

The end that attaches to the chassis harness is easy as it is 4 wires and all color codes are the same. It is just that different models use different plugs. Just pick your method of attachment or cutting and splicing to suite your level of need from nice and tidy OE looking to twisting wires and taping.
You can get connectors to suite that need at any good electronics store.

The thremocouple end presents more problems if you don't have some misc Ferrari type connectors laying around. I think they are AMP pieces and a little shopping may find you some of the correct pieces to splice to the existing thermocouple ends. Barring that a little creativity can get the wires connected to the ECU for the thermocouple for it to function. I have a problem in that I cannot wire something that does not look factory so I would be looking for the correct ends. Seems to me I saw some on Ebay.

If this is insufficient let me know but once you have a look at the problem with all the parts in your hand I suspect it will become clear.

Thank you Rifledriver and Tbakowski for the info. I'm going to try to get this little project underway soon. Tbakowski, did you get my PM from a few days ago regarding service intervals? Thanks again!
